Re: [Bulk] Authorizing JAWS on another computer

David <davidwhitehead1957@...>

Hello there;

Well, this subject is very interesting.
I did a full format of my computer,
However before I started the process,
I went into c:\programs\freedom Scientific
And I save the activator folder.
Now, after the format was complete,
And I had the computer at the desktop,
I installed jaws,
Obviously it was running in demo mode.
So,

1, I unloaded jaws,

2, started narrator,

3, navigated to my external drive,

4, found the jaws activator program I previously saved,

Copied to clipboard,

5, navigated to, c:\programs\freedom scientific,
And pasted the folder,
And said yes to copy and replace.

Once the copy was complete,

I unloaded narrator,
Started jaws,
And to my wondering surprise?
The jaws startup wizard appeared.
Yep?
I was out of demo mode,
And didn't sacrifice a IL MKey.
So, there you go,

Joni,

Good that you're set. However be sure to visit the FS Activate site and put
in an official request to increase the number of keys. You're down to 1 and
that also makes me nervous.

You may not get more, but then you won't know until you ask.

FS is in the habit of not adding keys until you're down to zero, and that's
very nerve-wracking.

Note that if you make any significant changes to your computer hardware
(such as a different or additional DVD burner) your hardware key will change
and JAWS will need to be reauthorized and another key is lost. I've gone
through 5 keys in the past two months due to getting a new laptop at work,
installing two new burners in my home computer, and setting up my wife's new
laptop.

FS has been a bit cranky and I just have one key for now until I start
behaving myself.

I managed to get it authorized. The 40-minute mode makes me nervous when I
am working with a new computer, new operating system and worrying about
being in the middle of something when JAWS needs a reboot.

The first time I did the ILM process I was on the phone with tech support,
so the procedure is not that familiar to me and I was afraid I would not get
it done correctly. Should have borrowed a Valium from that newly installed
JAWS voice I guess to make me calmer through the process.

Nice to end the day on a successful note.

Hello listers,

Does anyone hold the degree called MCPD, which is Microsoft professional developer?
If so, I'd like to get some information about the development tools and their accessibility with Jaws.
I am talking about tools such as ASP, ADO, LINQ, Silverlight, WPF, WCF/Web Services.

I am totally blind and consider to study in a software development course.
I would very much appreciate, if someone who is familiar with the subject could share his experience with me.
And if I need further assistance, I am also ready to pay for it.

To get the alt+j hotkey back, you need to turn back on the Command bar.
Press alt+v to access the view menu, then arrow to toolbars. Press Enter on

As mentioned here the hotkey for opening the feed list has been changed to
ctrl+g in IE9.

Hi to the Llist,

I'm running the latest jaws 12 with windows 7 home premium 32-Bit and
internet explorer 9. When opening a website containing rss-feeds, jaws
announces
the feeds, but there's no possibility to access them. The shortcuts
"alt-j" and Strg-J working in earlier version of internet explorer don't
work anymore
and there's no special link on the prefered site to get the feed. So how
can I add feeds to the list in IE 9 with jaws?

Thanks in advance and kind regards.

OK
You have a couple of concepts going here: line break reading and blank line reading. Let's take them one at a time. First, however, if you don't want to hear paragraph marks, what you did to turn off those symbols with control plus shift plus 8 should remain. Note: this is a Word command. It has nothing to do with JAWS -- at least not directly. BTW, If you want to hear tabs, but not paragraph markers, you can turn tabs, spaces, and paragraph marks on and off within Word by going to Tools and Options. I think this is under the "View" tab control, but that part I'm not so sure about. Now to the JAWS issues:

Line Breaks:
Go to the JAWS Settings Center. You can do this directly with JAWS key plus 6 (top row).
In the edit box, type line.
This will present you with several matches. Arrow down until you hear "User navigates left or right across a line break." There are like 3 options. If you don't want JAWS to tell you when you have come to a new line, make sure all these option check boxes are unchecked. That should cure your "new line" reading.

Say Blanks:
This is different. If you navigate to a blank line, and you want to know it is blank, go to Settings Center again. You do it, guess what, the same way I mentioned above. Now, in the edit box, type "blank" instead of "line."
That will give you an option to turn on blank reading during say all. Honestly, I thought there was a way to turn on and off blank line reading other than in "Say All," but I couldn't find it. I'm not sure you can turn it off, which is good, because you said you wanted to hear blank lines.

I have had this happen with Jaws 10 thru 13. Whenever I changed identities

It didn't matter which of the above stated versions of Jaws was running, I
had to reload Jaws with them all. Then, for whatever reason the problem
would stop then, after whatever periond of time the problem would resume.
We are back to unloading & reloading Jaws just about every time I change
identities. Beats the hell out of me what causes it! LOL LOL
Take care, & have a very merry Christmas.

I suppose this probably won't be a big concern for FS, but it's annoying
to
me.

Since installing JAWS 13, when switching from my husband's identity in
Outlook Express to mine, JAWS won't read emails. I open then and it's
blank. If I close Outlook Express after he's switched back, and then
reopen, JAWS reads the emails just fine.

Anyone have any idea why this happens? I've never experienced it with any
previous version of JAWS.

I don't think it's the update because I had updated jaws and it
happened some time after that. So far as I can see I don't think there
was an update for windows explorer, but, maybe it's time to get a new
desktop with windows 7? we'll have to see.

Jeff,

Did it happen after you updated? Could be that 13.0.638 is the issue.

Hi friends,

I am using Word 2007. I don’t know what’s wrong but now, most of my word document files appear paragraph mark and space mark.

Please show me how to clear those marks.

Thank you in advance

Re: JFW and dragon...

Peter Holdstock <ptrholdstock@...>

I've been using Dragon 11.5 for the past few days and it works great. They even have a menu setting for it to work well with screen readers but I find certainly with JAWS 13 it makes no difference. But it works well anyway. The only thing is you don't get a lot of feedback about what it's doing but so far I've found it to be so accurate that I just trust it to do what I say. If you want to check it's dictated your document correctly just say select all and JAWS will begin reading the document. The nice thing with Dragon 11.5 is that it also corrects the recognition with the keyboard i.e. if you change anything you've dictated using the keyboard it learns from that. I don't think previous versions did that. I'm no expert though so please don't ask me lots of questions as I'm just learning as well.

Hello I am looking forward to hearing from you in regards to jaws and
dragon. Maybe may take a test drive once I know that it will work with
screen readers.

OK.
I was using JAWS 12 and Dragon 10. They work fine together. You do not
need J_SAY. You do need to know about some specific settings that make it
work much better. Most are intuitive, and you can usually make an educated
guess.
The most important thing to remember is to run Naturally Speaking from the
system tray. That is essential -- at least in Naturally Speaking 10.
I installed Naturally Speaking 11 about a week ago; however, when I tried to
run it, I got a "system corrupted" error. So, I cannot talk much about
Naturally Speaking 11.
I have to wait until one of our IT types are available. Our system is so
locked down that only an administrator can install programs, and even
thence, each EXE and each DLL has to be approved.
The security inmates are running the asylum here.
I'll report on this list my experience with Naturally Speaking, once it is
properly installed, and I'll also offer some suggestions about settings.

One more question, my mom is thinking about getting me dragon for Christmas,
can it work with JFWs? Is there anything I should know about using the two
programs together?
Thanks and sorry to bather you all again.

Re: paragraph mark

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

I move pc cursur to paragraph mark then press ctrl+shift+8 then the
paragraph marks disappeared. Now JAWS says new line new line.

Whenever I press up or down arrow, jaws say the text then at the end of the
line jaws says new line new line, twice.

Then I press ctrl+shift+8 again, It turns to say paragraph mark...

I want jaws say blank when pc cursor moves to blank line. How to do it?

thank you very much
