Re: creating an apple ID

Tom Lange

Hi Kimsan,
Friggin' kaptchas make me nuts; I hate kaptchas and do everything possible to avoid them. Is your Apple ID going to be used on an IOS device such as an iPhone or iPad? If so, why not use the app store on the IOS device to create your Apple ID. That's what I did on my iPhone and on my girlfriend's iPhone, and in neither case did I have to screw around with a stupid kaptcha.

Tom

Hi,

I am trying to create an apple ID using IE 8. I get to the part where I
have to listen to the capcha but nothing is playing what should I do besides
downloading firefox and using web visum?

Thanks.

Re: SAPI files

To remove SAPI support run the synthesizer and braille manager
(JAWS+J, Utilities then synthesizer and braille manager.

Then hit the "Add, Remove or Change Devices" button.
Select Speech Synthesizers and hit Next
Uncheck SAPI in the list and hit Finish.
Finally hit the Close button in the Synthesizer and Braille manager window.

The archive downloads don't contain the voices though, even the update
cd packs that FS sent out didn't contain them as far as I am aware.
Only the original in-box disc pack did, along with the jaws

Facebook Question

Chris Smart <csmart8@...>

Ok, I figured it out through the http://m.facebook.com simplified interface.
It was still convoluted though, and beared no resemblance to what a few well-meaning sighted friends told me to look for. *LOL*
so my question still stands, regarding bridging the communication gap when trying to describe things back and forth with the sighted folk.

Any tips?

Facebook Question

Chris Smart <csmart8@...>

Hi folks.

Has anybody managed to leave a Facebook group? I'm having trouble finding a simple "leave group" option anywhere.
Asking sighted folks where it resides is of no help, since Jaws reorganizes things into a different reading order compared to what they see.

For that matter, is there an easy way to show a sighted person visually how I hear a web page through Jaws, remotely I mean? Somewhere online that demonstrates "ok, this is what you see, but this is what I hear and in this order."

Because it's just about impossible dialoguing with sighted folks about these things. "it's on the right, near the search box" is a typical example of a suggestion from a sighted person, and they may be entirely correct, visually. But there seems to be no way to translate that into a strategy with Jaws to locate things on the same screen.

Using outlook 2010 when I open an email, it only reads the first line

I can arrow up or down and jaws will read it, however when I open an
email and read it, the above happens.

Does anyone have a fix for this or notes?

Thanks.

Hi,

I had a brain freeze and don't remember how to fix this?

Using outlook 2010 when I open an email, it only reads the first line and
when I arrow down nothing is being said. When I compose an email, I can
arrow up or down and jaws will read it, however when I open an email and
read it, the above happens.

Does anyone have a fix for this or notes?

Thanks.

I have to reboot when that happens.
