Doubt it. JAWS needs drivers loaded to function, and safe mode shuts down
most if not all drivers.

Hello listers

I realize this might be a dumb question but I’m going to ask anyhow.

Does anyone know if Jaws 14 can be used in safe mode on a windows 8 machine?

I’m trying to uninstall a program and it says I need to do so in safe mode;
so I’m hoping that Jaws can be run in that situation.

screen reader

paula

hi everyone,

On one of my computers, I have NVDA, which is a screen reader. I also have Jaws demo on it. This is a refirbished computer with Windows 7. Can’t afford to upgrade from home jaws to professional jaws on this certain computer. Can anyone tell me what free screen reader I can download besides NVDA reader? I just don’t care for this reader.

thank u much,

Re: window mail, window 8 and jaws 14 questions

Hi Rob,
in the windows 8 apps, to move to the controls on the app bar or bars, press windows key + z. You can then move between the controls using tab and shift+ tab.

David.

I am taking a look at windows 8 and wanting to use the windows mail that
comes with it.  But I am having a hard time trying to get windows mail and
jaws 14 to work together.  Is there a guide on how to get to the toolbar?  I
was able to get the account setup but am having trouble  understanding how
to use the program.  Any help would sure be appreciated.

Brian,

On many laptops, there is no application key, due to space restrictions.
Have you tried using shift+f10?

Hello, Brian.

Some laptops either don't have an application key, or they
have a key which is labelled Applications, but does not function as
expected.

In this case, try the following key combination:

Shift key plus F10, which is function key 10.

Thank you.

Yes, the reminder sound plays, I alt Tab and move to the window, dismiss the
reminder with the button and then continue on reading mail.

Hi.
I'm in the same position as Rose. Use your JAWS cursor to read the screen,
and route your PC cursor to your JFW cursor when you're on the button you
want. The Reminders seem to show up in a separate window--when I open
Outlook, if there are reminder(s) showing, I have to alt+Tab to get to the
Inbox.

Yes, I can use these buttons in Outlook 2010, with iCloud, Jaws 14 latest,

Dear List members,

Can anyone confirm if they have the 'dismiss', 'dismiss-all' and 'snooze'
buttons accessible within Outlook 2010 using JAWS 14 when they have the
Windows Apple I-Cloud software installed?

If I disable the 'iCloud' Outlook add-in, these 'reminder' buttons become
accessible again by tabbing to them, but with the add-in enabled, those
buttons are not reachable by any tabbing with JAWS.

The i-Cloud synchronisation function of i-phone
reminders/contacts/appointments all seem to work fine, but synchronising the
reminders becomes pointless if I can't access them on the Outlook panel.

Surely I'm not the first trying to sync my i-phone to a Windows 7 system
using Outlook like this?

New list member, so sorry for duplicating this as my earlier posting I
suspect was a bit vague.

Regards,

Brian

Re: How do I send an attachment through email

Brian Varner <bvarner05@...>

Oh well, this wasn't even my question originally, but might as well
clarify my concerns. I use jaws 11 on an XP operating system computer
supplied by my work. I use the html version of gmail. When I am in
the subject line and hit tab, I hear "attach browse dot dot dot. When
I tab again, I get to the attach button. I seldom attach anything but
I've been trying to send mp3 files from a digital recorder I use to
learn music for chorus. This opens up still more questions on how to
navigate mp3 tracks with jaws using media player, especially the fast
forward and reverse, or cue and review. All I've found so far is play
and pause.

Getting Rid of Unwanted Code: Word 2010 and JFW 14

Dani Pagador

Hi, Everyone.

I'm trying to work with JFW14 and Office 2010.

When I open previously saved Word 2010 documents, before the text, I see:

"MACROBUTTON HTMLDirect }MACROBUTTON HTMLDirect }MACROBUTTON

HTMLDirect"

JFW reads the text, but I can't move the braille display past the crud.

When I open a blank document, I see: "Microsoft Word Document fnote"

I can write text in to the new document, but can't move the braille display
past the crud.

I looked at the documentation for JFW14 and don't see anything that
addresses this.

Has anyone on list seen this? What do I need to turn off, assuming something
got turned on?

Thanks,

Dani

Spotify Question?

Brandon Keith Biggs <brandonkeithbiggs@...>

Hello,
I'm not sure if there is a list for this, but I'm trying to figure out how to send friend requests, or download play lists. I'm also trying to figure out how to use apps if that is possible yet using spotify blind.
I want to add:
http://open.spotify.com/user/dins64/playlist/5aVvSjlH0qO1DO9kJt4uGm
to my play lists, so I can get it on my phone. but I can't figure out how to do that.
I think the above play list is also put into folders as well, there should be a folder for each Opera. I would like to know how to see those folders.
Finally, there is a new app called Classify that lists Operas in the category search, but when I downloaded it, I don't see any category list. I'm not sure if this is because I don't know how to do what I want to do, or if the scripts don't cover these features yet.
Thanks,

Brandon Keith Biggs
