Re: Blind Tunes for iTunes celebrates first anniversary

If you update iTunes, blind tunes will not automatically update unless there
is an update for it. Usually when there is an iTunes update, I have to push
out some update to make it work properly again. You can update from the
insert + H menu for blind tunes as well.
I think I answered your question, but let me know if that was confusing.

Hi all.
Today marks the first release of Blind Tunes for iTunes. For those not
familiar, it is a JAWS script to empower iTunes users. It takes
accessibility to the next level, something that you can't do without
the scripts. Joined by its simple navigation, it can give you any
information you want at the touch of a shortcut. You can easily manage
your music, rate items, artists, albums or genres. You can change
genres on single items, artists or albums. Not only that, you can
configure individual equalizer settings for artists, or albums, or
genres. Blind Tunes makes it easy to sort your music and manage it for
your iPod, iTouch, or iPhone. You can multiSelect tracks and in
playlists, even drag them 1,5,10, and even 20 track positions in a
list. It is easy to learn, as the guides make it simple to understand
how to do something. You have a shortcut manager that not only
performs the task, but also tells you what the shortcut does. It has
auto updating built in to make sure you have the latest release of Blind
Tunes.
As of today, there are more than 15,000 users of Blind Tunes and it is
global with different languages to pick from.
It doesn't stop there, it keeps getting better. Now you have the
ability to manage your playlists, podcasts, and library items with
automated functions to make irritating tasks simple. It's called
Helper Scripts. You can find, skip, delete individual tracks, or all
invalid tracks that are in your library. You can find what items are
unchecked and it will keep finding the items for you to check or skip.
The helper scripts allow you to add an Artist, Album, or Genre to a
playlist of your creation or an existing one.
You can easily manage your podcasts to delete partially listened to,
unplayed, or not downloaded podcasts.
But the cream of the crop is the Super Playlist Creator. It examines
your music library to find out what you like, rate, and even don't
like. It knows what genres you like and even what you haven't played.
You can view so much in your library and finally know what your music
taste is without searching manually. It pays attention to skips and
recently played Artists. You can actually pick from lists of songs or
albums what you want to add to your playlist, delete from your music
library, and even preview the tracks right in the menu system. You can
escape out of menus and it returns you the last selected item so you
don't lose your place. Never has playlist creation been made easier
and possible. For this kind of accessibility and functionality with
the Super Playlist Creator, you'd have to shell out money for this
kind of thing, that unfortunately won't be accessible.
Blind Tunes makes this all free. That's right, free. You can even make
suggestions on the beta list created within the first week of release.
I value all of your input and try hard to make things accessible where
Apple drops the ball. If you'd like to join the beta list, click on
the link below and put subscribe in the subject line.
Blindtunesbeta-request@freelists.org
To start sending messages to the list, write to:
blindtunesbeta@freelists.org

Blind Tunes has certainly grown up this first year and it just keeps
getting better. Thank you all so much for supporting a free project
and all your valuable feedback throughout the year. It has become one
of the most popular scripts that JAWS can offer. If you are interested
in more information about Blind Tunes, please visit:
www.BlindTunes.net
I welcome your comments and suggestions so that we can make this even
better for the next year. I keep current with the latest release of
iTunes and even test for compatibility on older systems. Don't be shy
about your music, this will really help you gain back your
independence of musical taste.
Thanks for reading, and hope to see you on the list!

Brandon,

You're experiencing the famous key sticking problem that's been part of JAWS
since version 3.5. I don't know how or why the Ctrl key sticking is making
your mouse cursor move, but any of the modifier keys (shift, Windows, Alt,
Ctrl) can be programmatically "stuck" in the keyboard buffer and alter all
subsequent keystrokes.

The resolution when it happens (and for me it happens every few days) is to
rapidly tap both keys in sequence several times, left/right/left/right etc.
I do this for Shift, Alt, Ctrl, and Windows. Then Escape to clear out
anything partially opened.

It usually fixes the problem.

Sounds like you do the same thing by holding down the Ctrl key, but either
key of the pairs can be the culprit.

Thanks for giving us the additional details on your "Ghost Mouse".

No, if you have disabled both your mouse pad and the buttons, you should not
be having any erratic movement of the cursor. Were you able to find those
places to disable the mouse, as earlier directed?

If those steps did not work, then you may need to have someone help you
disable the mouse in the System BIOS itself. It may not be manageable via
standard drivers, if it's an embedded part of your laptop.

I had to do that on my older Dell -- use the BIOS to completely disable both
the touchpad and touchstick.

Fortunately on this newer Dell there is an Fn key that disables/enables the
mouse and touchstick -- very cool. In my case it's Fn key plus F5.

Hello,
I’m wondering if anyone knows what’s going on:
I disabled the tapping feature on my mouse pad so sighted people could use
the mouse with the buttons. I know it’s disabled because when I tap it or
move my fingers along it nothing happens except for the mouse to move.
I’m still having the same problem I had when the mouse was enabled. At
random times I’m jumped to different windows, I’m moved to different places
in a document or email at random times and sometimes when I’m typing a
random bunch of text will be selected and deleted when I keep on typing.
Other people who have tested on my computer haven’t had this problem, so I’m
wondering if there is a way to find if there are some touch pads that aren’t
obvious that my hand position brushes? I don’t see anything except maybe
around the mouse pad or keys. There are lights around my spacebar and mouse
pad.
I’m running Windows 7 with Jaws 11. This jumping happens at random times and
in any application.
Thank you,

I have the same problem but I still use jfw 12.70. It happens when I open a
link or a web page at times but also jaws will disappear if I am away from
the computer so when I come back jaws is gone.

I have an additional issue as my re boot button have disappeared into the
tower so I can't just hit boot. I use i.e. 7 but it happens with firefox as
well.

I never had this issue with previous versions of jaws or i.e. since started
using jaws about fifteen years ago.

Hello,
WLM is getting more annoying to use as time goes on.
This is what you have to do:
Shift tab to the attachments, hit rout jaws curser to PC, (If using a laptop
that is +Left Bracket), then hit right mouse button which is Insert+9.
Arrow down till you see "Save all" and hit enter.
Now you're able to save all your attachments as their normal document type

Do you perhaps have a roller ball, or a track ball, or a slider bar that you
don't know about? Can't imagine what's moving the cursor, unless you have
something loose inside.

Hello,
My mouse pad is disabled, I am tapping and banging a Tyco routine on the
touchpad and nothing's happening.
Unless there is a special movement that activates the clicker I'm not
doing... I'm trying the Kentucky slide and it's not clicking either.
But it's still jumping up to random spots while I'm typing.

Hello,
I felt down and around every single key on my keyboard and I didn't feel
anything other than plastic key and the little space between.
I also don't see anything for a touch stick in my mouse settings.
I wonder if it's faulty drivers?

Yes, I don't know HP laptops, but in my case, the touchstick is not really a
stick, but a round button fairly flush with the surrounding keys. It's not
always obvious, so make sure to hunt for one, just in case.

If this is a Dell laptop, then there is both a pad and a touchstick. both
need to be disabled. As suggested, for mouse work, just connect a simple USB
mouse for that.

Touchstick is located between G, H, V, and N.

Hello,
I’m wondering if anyone knows what’s going on:
Thank you,

Hello,
I didn't know that!
If you hit alt F and hit S to get to save you can arrow through that menu to
get "Save attachments" and hit enter. That dialogue is the same as the save
all option.
On my windows live mail you can't hit the applications key and have it work
in the attachments pain and insert + 9 is the same as using the numpad. Also
in the file menu both of the save options have S as their shortcut key, so
hitting a doesn't work.
It seems like we all have different versions of WLM!
And I ask why FS doesn't support it?
Thank you,

I think you'll find control-F6 gets you back more quickly and reliably if,
as you say, the problem can be corrected at all.

Hello,
WLM is getting more annoying to use as time goes on.
This is what you have to do:
Shift tab to the attachments, hit rout jaws curser to PC, (If using a laptop
that is +Left Bracket), then hit right mouse button which is Insert+9.
Arrow down till you see "Save all" and hit enter.
Now you're able to save all your attachments as their normal document type
anywhere.

Subject: Blind Tunes for iTunes celebrates first anniversary

Hi all.
Today marks the first release of Blind Tunes for iTunes. For those not
familiar, it is a JAWS script to empower iTunes users. It takes
accessibility to the next level, something that you can't do without the
scripts. Joined by its simple navigation, it can give you any information
you want at the touch of a shortcut. You can easily manage your music, rate
items, artists, albums or genres. You can change genres on single items,
artists or albums. Not only that, you can configure individual equalizer
settings for artists, or albums, or genres. Blind Tunes makes it easy to
sort your music and manage it for your iPod, iTouch, or iPhone. You can
multiSelect tracks and in playlists, even drag them 1,5,10, and even 20
track positions in a list. It is easy to learn, as the guides make it simple
to understand how to do something. You have a shortcut manager that not only
performs the task, but also tells you what the shortcut does. It has auto
updating built in to make sure you have the latest release of Blind Tunes.
As of today, there are more than 15,000 users of Blind Tunes and it is
global with different languages to pick from.
It doesn't stop there, it keeps getting better. Now you have the ability to
manage your playlists, podcasts, and library items with automated functions
to make irritating tasks simple. It's called Helper Scripts. You can find,
skip, delete individual tracks, or all invalid tracks that are in your
library. You can find what items are unchecked and it will keep finding the
items for you to check or skip. The helper scripts allow you to add an
Artist, Album, or Genre to a playlist of your creation or an existing one.
You can easily manage your podcasts to delete partially listened to,
unplayed, or not downloaded podcasts.
But the cream of the crop is the Super Playlist Creator. It examines your
music library to find out what you like, rate, and even don't like. It knows
what genres you like and even what you haven't played. You can view so much
in your library and finally know what your music taste is without searching
manually. It pays attention to skips and recently played Artists. You can
actually pick from lists of songs or albums what you want to add to your
playlist, delete from your music library, and even preview the tracks right
in the menu system. You can escape out of menus and it returns you the last
selected item so you don't lose your place. Never has playlist creation been
made easier and possible. For this kind of accessibility and functionality
with the Super Playlist Creator, you'd have to shell out money for this kind
of thing, that unfortunately won't be accessible.
Blind Tunes makes this all free. That's right, free. You can even make
suggestions on the beta list created within the first week of release.
I value all of your input and try hard to make things accessible where Apple
drops the ball. If you'd like to join the beta list, click on the link below
and put subscribe in the subject line.

Blind Tunes has certainly grown up this first year and it just keeps getting
better. Thank you all so much for supporting a free project and all your
valuable feedback throughout the year. It has become one of the most popular
scripts that JAWS can offer. If you are interested in more information about
Blind Tunes, please visit:

I welcome your comments and suggestions so that we can make this even better
for the next year. I keep current with the latest release of iTunes and even
test for compatibility on older systems. Don't be shy about your music, this
will really help you gain back your independence of musical taste.
Thanks for reading, and hope to see you on the list!

We did that, and we don't see a save attachments option.

I don't currently have a message with an attachment to see if this is correct. But, when on the attachment button, try pressing the applications key and using the up or down arrows to find "Save attachment". I think it's there.

Subject: Save attachments in windows live mail

A friend of mine has windows live mail. We are trying to save an attachment through JAWS. I sent her an attachment which is a wav file. She received the mail, and we see a button giving the name and size of the file, but it only offers an open option. How do we save the attachment in windows live mail?

Thank you.
