Happening Now: List Rules - 06/01/2021
#cal-notice
main@jfw.groups.io Calendar <noreply@...>
List Rules When: Description: http://groups.io/g/jfw/wiki/List-Policies
**List Policies** 1: Keep it clean. We're a family list, and there are people here who probably don't want to hear everything *exactly* that's running through your head. If you wouldn't see it on TV, it doesn't belong in a post to the list. If you're not sure, email the administration before you post it to the list. Otherwise, you stand to see your posts moderated. 2: Stay on topic. We're a JFW-oriented list. That said, anything related to JFW, its functionality with programs etc is acceptable. If it doesn't have to do with JFW, it doesn't belong on the list. This includes, but isn't limited to, talk of other screen readers such as Window Eyes. 3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject. 4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind. 5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration. 6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently. As always, if there are problems or questions with regards these policies, don't hesitate to send them off-list to jfw+owner@groups.io James,

If you don't mind paying, try look at sophos. The program is not accessible but you usually configure them on their web interface. Once you do it once, you can let it do its job.
You can multiple devices with one subsiptions too.

Hi Laura, no problems receiving mail here. Perhaps messages might be going into your spam folder because there has been plenty of messages to this list.

Bill, it might be a matter of your view settings for contacts versus mine. I'm using the business card view.

This doesn't work for me. When I navigate to a contact and copy it using CONTROL C, then paste it into an outlook email, it pastes text into the email, not an attachment. Bill White billwhite92701@... -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Van Lant, Robin via groups.io Sent: Saturday, May 29, 2021 4:07 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: Outlook contacts issue/question Madison, I have done this a bit with contacts on my work computer to move them to my personal. I open a new email message on the computer where the contacts are located and address the email to myself. I put focus in the body of the message. I then open my Contacts. I navigate to each contact I want to copy over and, without actually opening the contact, I do a control c to copy it. Then I go to the open email message and hit Control v to paste it. I do as many of these as I need, then send the email to myself. When I open the email on the other computer, the message is there with each contact as a separate attachment. I think I just selected all and pasted them with Control v into my contacts. Likewise, you can open each contact attachment and, make any needed edits, and save it. -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Madison Martin Sent: Saturday, May 29, 2021 9:09 AM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Outlook contacts issue/question WARNING: This email originated externally. Exercise caution. Think before clicking links or opening attachments. Hi all, I was looking at stuff on my old laptop today and noticed that I have a few Outlook contacts on my old computer that aren't in my contacts on this laptop. So I'm wondering, is there any way to get specific contacts from my contacts on my old computer to my list on this computer? I know how to do a Outlook backup and import it (though I've never done it from one computer to another), but most of the contacts are the same on both computers so I don't really want to do that because then I'd have duplicates and I don't want that. I don't even know why these particular contacts don't show up in my contacts on this computer, a backup was imported, so I don't know if I accidentally deleted them or what happened. My old computer is running Outlook 2013, Windows 7 and the latest vertion of Jaws and this computer is running the latest versions of Office 365, Jaws and Windows 10. Really hope there's a way to do this as I'd really like to have these missing contacts on this computer as I rarely use my old one. Look forward to any suggestions anyone might have. How to stop MS Edge from filling in my personal information for forms!
Shirley Tracy
I’ve looked on Google and I still can’t seem to get it. Please, can anybody help me stop Edge from taking over my forms and filling them out Edge’s way? ?
Usually, I muddle through, but it’s getting frustrating. I’d rather do it myself. Besides, Edge has most of it wrong.
Help?

you can download the latest version and run it for 40 minutes to see if it fixes the issue or if it's worth the money although I strongly believe it is.

Hi, There are good, free, ones. Windows Defender, built in, works just fine for many people. I use web root and while not the most accessible in terms of interface I can use it with workarounds. Have found it reliable and warned me before I hit a phishing site. Dan

Hi Aaron,
I think your biggest issue is the version of
Jaws you're running. J17 doesn't work well with Windows 10. I could
be wrong, but have you tried a newer version of Jaws? Preferably J19 or
up.
Stay safe & take care. Mike. Just once, I want a username and password prompt to say: "Close Enough!"

Drag & drop problem - JAWS17
aaron lane
Hello. I'm using JAWS17 in Windows10, in a game that is created using HTML & JavaScript, and the game doesn't run in a browser, but it is a Chrome legacy window. When I place my Jaws cursor on an item, then lock the left mouse button with, Jaws Key + slash, I am not able to navigate to the point in which I need to drop the item. I've tried switching to the PC cursor, but still nothing. I can move with, shift + Alt, then arrow to the spot, but when I then unlock the left mouse button, the item was not moved. I have also written a Script that locks the left mouse button, and jumps to the coordinates that I need, then I unlock the button myself. This script works but not very often. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I don't made my points clear. I don't think every Google Chrome has a problem with this site. I mentioned one guy who told us in the mailing list in Germany that he had difficulties with chrome browser and edit fields. Since he was the only one who had this difficulties in this particular list and Pamela said she couldn't find the edit fields as well it was my guess that perhaps she is one of the people having similar problems. I don't think it's a general Google Chrome problem. If Pamela discovers that Edge Chromium is showing the edit fields and Chrome not this is another hint in this direction. if both browser on the other hand don't show edit fields it must be another problem. It was a guess to enclose the problem not a statement Chrome is responsible in a general way. I hope I made this clear. All the best Udo

Message Headers on Live Account in Outlook
Marie Nelson
For some unknown reason, on my Live.com account, the message headers only contain the size of the email and the date? This happens only on this account but not on others. If I delete a message and look in the deleted folder they have the normal heading info. I am sure I have inadvertently changed some setting which has cause this but no idea how. Can anyone help? The header appears correctly when
running either Narrator or NVDA?

Sieghard Weitzel <sieghard@...>
When I tried the other day I used Edge, just now I went to Northwest.bank using Google Chrome, after clicking on the Login link (it is not a button, it's a link) and then using "e" to find any edit fields I immediately landed in the Login Id field and a tab from there brought me to the password field. Note that unlike on some other websites where after you click on Login or similar focus is not automatically put in the Login Id box, you have to jump to it with the "e" or "f" quick nav key. But the experience for me using Jaws 2021 was identical with Edge or Chrome.

Perhaps you can test the web site again with other browser to prove or disprove this statement.
