Re: Question about Adobe X

it's probably an image. have you hit page down or control+page down a couple times, to make sure the first screen isn't just blank?

At 07:01 PM 7/14/2012, you wrote:
Okay, I downloaded Adobe X 10 and have tried opening a book. It appears to be empty. In Adobe version 7, JAWS told me that Adobe said "alert, empty document." However, I am not getting such a message from Adobe X. Is this a change, or is there some way to get it to tell me?

One reason that I am uncertain is that it says something like 71.5% when I am using the JAWS cursor, so I can't tell if it just isn't finished, or if the document is an image.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Stopping Jaws From Saying Grov When Pressing The Grov Key

Mike B. <mb69mach1@...>

Hi Bill & Dave,

Bill, thank you for explaining what I want to do a hell of a lot better than
myself. This is a message I got concerning this matter & how to fix it.

Mike,

Create a script that is activated whenever the grov key is pressed.

Within that script call whatever function is necessary to cause your clock
to speak.

JFW will not speak the grov key if a script is associated with that key.

I suggest experimenting by creating the script for notepad. That script
will only be activated when notepad has focus and the grov key is pressed.

Whenever you have that script working as desired, you could copy it into the
default.jss file and it will work for all aplications.

Be aware that if you put that script in the default.jss file, it will
superceed all previous functioning of the grov key in all other
applications.

If that becomes a problem in some applications, use the PassKeyThrough
function before pressing the grov key in those applications.

hth

Bob

Take care.
Mike

I don't think he's trying to stop the vocalization of the ` key. I think
he
wants to unbind the key from the function of producing the ` symbol when
the
key is pressed so he can use it in another application.

Thank you.

phonetically spelled as

That's what you should put in your dictionary, perhaps. However now I'm not
at all sure it will suppress speaking when you press the key.

Re: Stopping Jaws From Saying Grov When Pressing The Grov Key

Mike B. <mb69mach1@...>

Hi Adrian, Dave, & Soronel

Thank you very much for the suggestions but, these have all been tried
without success. The grave / tilde key doesn't showup in the keyboard
manager. Stopping Jaws from saying grave / tilde in punctuation settings
will only stop Jaws from saying it if, Jaws sees that particular punctuation
mark in a file when reading it. If I alter the dictionary manager that has
the same results as modifying the punctuation settings. I am attempting to
stop Jaws from saying grave / tilde when pressing the grave / tilde key
only, not when Jaws is told to ignore / recognize the punctuation mark. I
think this is something that may require a script being written or a
remapping of the keyboard itself. I just don't have a clue as to how to do
this! Thanks again for the suggestions. Take care.

Re: Stopping Jaws From Saying Grov When Pressing The Grov Key

Adrian Spratt

That key types the grave accent that is used in several foreign languages.
Note that it's spelled like the place where we'll inevitably end up. When
pressed with shift, it creates the tilde that is used above the n in
Spanish.

So the drawback in your JAWS dictionary suggestion, Dave, is that Mike would
be suppressing verbalization of a word that has several meanings and turns
up quite often.

Mike, you said you already tried the keyboard manager. However, now that you
know the correct spelling of "grave," it might be worth another scan down
the list.

And by the way I'm presuming that it is spelled g r o v as you've spelled
it. If not, then you'll need to figure out how it's actually spelled in the
JAWS keyboard manager.

And by the way, that may be a better place to go for removing the speaking
of the character.

Question about Adobe X

Terrilynne

Okay, I downloaded Adobe X 10 and have tried opening a book. It appears to be empty. In Adobe version 7, JAWS told me that Adobe said "alert, empty document." However, I am not getting such a message from Adobe X. Is this a change, or is there some way to get it to tell me?

One reason that I am uncertain is that it says something like 71.5% when I am using the JAWS cursor, so I can't tell if it just isn't finished, or if the document is an image.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK. Sorry for any misspelling. First make sure your wm player is setup for rip as soon you put CDs. If so, after you rip your CDs, go document and music and find your folder just you rip. Select all songs, open application, go to send, send it to CD player. you probably will hear message about burning, if you hear so, go to application, use arrow to burn. you will get message what type of CD? Select type and go to next, you will get another about speed, go to next and them wm player will come up. on wm player, tab to start burn. Hope this help.

why do you not use WM player to rip and them you can burn it using WM
player. If you have window seven it can be done without having to spend
money. The process takes several steps but it is very easy. My cat
Bella can do it so is easy for me.

Ok i won't ask, even though Nero has been accessible since version 5.
I could upgrade to eleven, but with your oh so helpful post about it,
I'm not sure now.

If your cd collection is getting old and you may encounter errors,
Exact Audio Copy (EAC for short) is free, accessible, and has the
best error correction and the most flexibility.
Beware though that this is not a click twice and walk away type
program. You may have to delve into various options and do some
learning to get the best results.

Has anyone been successful at ripping with windows media player? I see it in
the options but don't know how to get it to work.

Believe it or not, iTunes works very well for ripping. I've not used it for
burning, but it should be no less accessible.
