Countdown Timers

List,

Does anyone know if there is a countdown timer that can be inserted into a webpage that JAWS can read?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Form Fields Not Entered Properly

Rick,

do I remember correctly that this is the password field for logging onto
your computer? The original exchange is not attached to this post, and I've
deleted those messages. If so, I always thought that field doesn't operate
like a regular forms field. Which operating system do you have?

When my XP system boots up, I sometimes have to wait a while for that
password field to appear, and then I typically need to arrow down once. But
if I remember correctly, you didn't used to have this problem.

Is it possible the password is being received but JAWS isn't reporting it
back to you? Have you tried pressing enter anyway?

I tried that, but it still wouldn't enter properly. I even tried turning
Page Refresh off, but it still didn't work.

Myself I hate auto forms and I turn my off by doing insert v scrol
down to form fields and turn it off and save the settings, you have to
be on a web page in I.E. or what ever. Now when I am in a form field,
I hit the edit button and I hear a single beep and I put in my info
and when I hit tab to get out I hear the beep. I hope that makes
sence. I hated the double beep when it went into forms field. dumbest

A week ago, I was having a problem logging on to the Internet. When I
called a sighted friend over to help me discover what was wrong, I tried
entering my username in the username field, but whenever I would arrow back

and forth to see if it was entering, it didn't appear to be there at all.
It was as if JAWS wasn't responding to my typing in the username. My
sighted friend had to use the mouse to get it to work properly. What is the

cause of JAWS just acting so wicked in this situation? Is there any way I
can improve the situation?

All this makes me inclined to pass on this update. For better or worse, I've
learned to cope with various idiosyncrasies of my often-visited web sites
and am not sure I'm ready to be surprised or confounded with differences
introduced. This may be one time where my curiosity is dampened by common
sense.

But do keep reporting on the experiences, and I'll go off and read up on the
"Enhancements" for this latest release.

Re: JAWS 13 Update & Bard Navigation

Dave...

Brian,

Thanks for the good engineering approach to analyzing the problem and
discovering at least one part of the solution. Forms mode would definitely
affect the usual navigation.

As you probably know, it's possible to set a delay value for the auto forms
mode to longer, to help prevent this problem.

Re: Jaws Latest Update Direct Download Links

Adrian Spratt

Mike,

Thank you for saving the rest of us the time involved in finding these
links on the website. In case anyone has a similar experience to mine, once
I'd saved the file and run it, installation took a very long time. It seemed
to get hung up at the 96% mark, and I was wondering what to do. Fortunately,
installation completed before I could do any damage.

Re: JAWS 13 Update & Bard Navigation

Rose Combs <rosecombs@...>

No, I have Windows 7, and IE 9 and have the problem, doing a jaws refresh
screen makes it work the way it should but never had to do that before. I
have all the Windows 7 updates also.

As Mitch suggested, it may be an XP problem. From what you say, it is. Maybe
FS is beginning to leave us XP hangers-on in its wake.

Hi all,
Using the newest bill of Jaws 13, out yesterday, I just went into the BARD
page, signed in, and had no dificulty at all. After signing in, I used the
down arrow and it went to the first line of text. Using
Win/7 HP on a 32 B machine, so no problem on this end.

Just so Dave and it is odd behavior.
First, other sites I have visited with the update might be working a little
better in terms of responsiveness.
When I go to BARD though, I can enter my e mail and password as before but
after logging in, I do not get the list of links as before and can only get
to the links I need by a cumbersome and uncertain amount of tabbing. Then
when I get the familiar array of links in tab form I can proceed with
downloads of books etc.
I know this is an imprecise explanation so I apologize. I think the screen
actually does show the list of links along with other Internet favorites but
access is only working via the tab key.
Maybe others can duplicate this and describe it in proper computer language.
Suffice it to say that many XP users like me will be affected by this if my
test of proper use by JAWS 12 is any clue. Thanks, Mitch

Mitch

What "new" navigation issues? You don't help if you don't give us
substantive details.

Hi All, The latest JAWS 13 Update has made navigating the BARD
digital book site difficult.
As a simple test, I went to the site with JAWS 12 without these new
navigation issues.
Have others made this fearless mistake yet? Bombs away! Mitch

I'm spoiled with a fast cable connection here though.
