Cy,
I think you are speaking of keys, the number of times you can install Jaws.

I’m speaking of SMA’s, the actual upgrades you have paid for, which, in my case should be showing a count of 2 remaining.

I have paid for Jaws 15 and 16, but the SMA count that appears on my computer is 0.

I really do not know what FS’s policy is regarding skipping upgrades.

I have just always kept my computer current.

Hi All,
I’m going to ask here about a problem I am having with Jaws 14.
I have contacted FS tech support, but, thus far, none of the suggestions
have worked.
I have the most current version of Jaws 14, using Windows 7.
I checked the About section in the Help menu, and it states that I have 0

This is incorrect, and should show a count of 2.
I went to the update authorization and ran that.
Twice I did it, and each time it said it was successfu.
It sstill showed 0 SMA.
The last suggestion from FS was to disable the firewall, and run the
authorization process again.
I did that, too.
It still says 0 SMA.
Now, each time I have done the authorization, I have had to manually enter
the Jaws authorization code.
If anyone has encountered this, and fixed it, I would appreciate knowing
what you did.
Thanks.

Hello Loreal,

Somewhere the original intention got lost. Where I have trouble is when I'm
scheduling a meeting, and I need to look at the available time slots for the

invitees, and pick the best meeting time to match most or all of their
available times.

I've managed in the past to see who is coming and who is not, so your
explanation for that is about the same that I do for Outlook 2007.

I think you said earlier that you are able to look at other invitees/

OK everyone,

Outlook 2010 how to view whether people have accepted your meeting or not:

1. select the appointment in your outlook calendar and enter on it.
2. Press the alt key, and left or right arrow through the virtual ribbon
until you hear "Meeting."
3. Press enter here..
4. Use your up and down arrows until you find the "Show" submenu.
5. Enter on this.
. Arrow down until you find: "Tracking" or "Tracking info."
7. Enter on this.
8. Now you should be able to arrow up and down through your attendees and
see who has accepted, declined, etc.

Hi Crystal,

SMA = Software Maintenance Agreement

Have you purchased SMA's for Jaws 15 or 16? If you have, then these
advanced purchases of future versions of Jaws would show up in the SMA
count. Are you thinking of the activation keys you have remaining for your
currently installed versions of Jaws perhaps? If you want to see how many
activation keys you have remaining follow the steps below.

From:
Farfar Carlson
I posted a question to FS about how to determine the number of activation
keys remaining. In case any of you wanted to find out, here are their
instructions, verbatim:

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific Support.

We suggest going to FSACTIVATE.com

http://www.fsactivate.com
2. Click on the continue product activation button.
3. Down arrow to: Verify the number of activation keys available for
your Freedom Scientific product and press enter.
4. Down arrow to serial number and again down arrow to edit.
Type in your JAWS serial number and press enter on the submit button.
5. Underneath the first seven digits of the authorization number, you
will find the number of keys remaining.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact

Hi All,
I’m going to ask here about a problem I am having with Jaws 14.
I have contacted FS tech support, but, thus far, none of the suggestions
have worked.
I have the most current version of Jaws 14, using Windows 7.
I checked the About section in the Help menu, and it states that I have 0
SMA’s.
Thanks.

Hi Ann;

I have Jaws 13, 14, & 15 installed and I have a few questions.
1- Is your computer 32 or 64 bit?

2- Does your ISP handle email through Gmail?

If the answer to the second question is "yes" and you have 64 bit, here is
one more.

3- What ports are you using to send and receive the mail? My ISP tech
support can't help. Eudora is not on their answer sheet. {;-) Grin

All help is appreciated

I had thought of the firewall issue, too, but had no problems whatsoever
downloading and installing the latest version of Jaws 14 from the F S web
site.

The updates I was trying to install in addition to the latest version of
Jaws 14 consisted mainly of training materials, and the "what's new in Jaws

It just seemed strange that I didn't have this problem on the other

Do you get any error message?
But just download JAWS 14.0 from the FS page and install it, that should

Hi, all.

I have successfully installed Jaws 14 on my Dell Lattitude 6510 Windows 7
work laptop, and have been able to configure the software in line with my
usual preferences.

My latest problem, though, is with downloading and installing the Jaws
updates which I'm supposedly entitled too.

If I go to the help menu and arrow up to "vcheck for updates, and hit
enter, I find that I'm entitled to five updates. However, when I get the
update list, and check the updates I want, I get a message saying that the
given updates cannot be downloaded. My internet connection on the laptop
is working fine. I've also tried to access each update individually, with
the same negative results.

I have not had this problem on either of the Windows XP machines I have
been working with over the past few days.

Am I missing a step here?

Could something be wrong with the Jaws update page on the Freedom

authorizations

Cy Selfridge

Well folks, FS has its own way of doing authorizations.

I just installed JAWS 14 and the number of authorizations is no where to be
found.

I contacted FS and they told me that I have 1 authorization left.

Now, here is the hoky poky, when you do a upgrade to a new version of JAWS
you do not get your authorizations reset to 3. You keep whatever number you
happened to have left over from the prior version.

I came from 11 and went to 14.

I did not install 12 or 13 so I should have had all kinds of authorizations
left. (LOLLOLLOL)

When I use the one I have left while installing 14 on my second laptop I can
then call FS and they will give me 3 more?

Clear as mud?

Cy

Hi,

FS should be able to tell if you have or did have SMA's and the number remaining. Also do you have an authorization CED.

Could something be wrong with the Jaws update page on the Freedom Scientific web site??

incorrect SMA count

Crystal French

Hi All,
I’m going to ask here about a problem I am having with Jaws 14.
I have contacted FS tech support, but, thus far, none of the suggestions have worked.
I have the most current version of Jaws 14, using Windows 7.
I checked the About section in the Help menu, and it states that I have 0 SMA’s.
This is incorrect, and should show a count of 2.
I went to the update authorization and ran that.
Twice I did it, and each time it said it was successfu.
It sstill showed 0 SMA.
The last suggestion from FS was to disable the firewall, and run the authorization process again.
I did that, too.
It still says 0 SMA.
Now, each time I have done the authorization, I have had to manually enter the Jaws authorization code.
If anyone has encountered this, and fixed it, I would appreciate knowing what you did.
Thanks.
Crystal

Hi Tom,

maybe you have some sort of firewall blocking your access to the update server?

Do you get any error message?
But just download JAWS 14.0 from the FS page and install it, that should give you the latest version.

Regards,
Nermin

I did not get any response to the quiry below, perhaps because it is one of
those little unsolvable mysteries that we all experience every so often.
So, I'm re-sending it here.

If anyone has any suggestions, please send them my way, and thanks as
always.

Hi, all.

I have successfully installed Jaws 14 on my Dell Lattitude 6510 Windows 7 work laptop, and have been able to configure the software in line with my usual preferences.

My latest problem, though, is with downloading and installing the Jaws updates which I'm supposedly entitled too.

If I go to the help menu and arrow up to "vcheck for updates, and hit enter, I find that I'm entitled to five updates. However, when I get the update list, and check the updates I want, I get a message saying that the given updates cannot be downloaded. My internet connection on the laptop is working fine. I've also tried to access each update individually, with the same negative results.

I have not had this problem on either of the Windows XP machines I have been working with over the past few days.

Am I missing a step here?

Could something be wrong with the Jaws update page on the Freedom Scientific web site??

Kimsan,

Yes! That's exactly what I'm having trouble with. It's virtually
inaccessible. I think I've managed to muddle with the JAWS cursor, but
usually with little success and virtually no confidence. It's a powerful
tool and I wish we could use it.

This is what I found off of google. It did not answer the question from a
keyboard user, unless you can see blue boxes.
A common problem when trying to arrange a meeting with more than 2 or 3
attendees is finding a common time when everyone is available. This is where
a
very under used part of Outlook 2010 comes in. The Scheduling Assistant
allows you to see attendees' free time slots in their calendars without them
actually
sharing their calendars with you.

To schedule a new meeting, follow these steps:

list of 9 items
. Click New Appointment.
. Fill in the Subject, Location and tentative Date.
. Click on Scheduling Assistant in the Show group on the ribbon.
. In the Scheduling view, on the left hand side of the window, you will see
your own name.
. Add the names of the attendees into the boxes under your name.

block quote end
. As you add attendees, blue boxes should appear on the line to the right,
depending on appointments they have scheduled. Unless they have shared their
calendars with you, you will not see appointment details.
. At the bottom right of the screen the Scheduling Assistant will suggest
times when all of the attendees are free.
. You can select an appropriate time by clicking on it in the scheduling
assistant and then dragging either the green or red bar to set the length of
the
appointment.

block quote end
. Click Send. The appointment will be sent to all attendees and
provisionally block out that time in their calendars.
list end

Hello Loreal,

Somewhere the original intention got lost. Where I have trouble is when I'm
scheduling a meeting, and I need to look at the available time slots for the
invitees, and pick the best meeting time to match most or all of their
available times.

I've managed in the past to see who is coming and who is not, so your
explanation for that is about the same that I do for Outlook 2007.

I think you said earlier that you are able to look at other invitees/
schedules and that is the part I cannot do.

HTH!

having trouble, and if so with what? What version of JAWS are you using?
