Try JAWS key plus B. By this, I mean, hold down the JAWS Key and press B.

Thank you.

what is happening when I am say in windows live messaged and typing away quite happyly a box might pop up asking something but I cant get jaws to read what's in the box, and it will stop jaws from reading the screen properly.
this happens in a few different programs.
I have windows 7 and jaws 12.

Chrome and Links, Another Idea

Dani Pagador

Hi.

I couldn't find the original thread in my Inbox about Chrome and not being
able to get links to work. But I thought I should post this thought.

I'm not using Chrome, but am using Win7 and JFW 11 or 13, depending on what
I'm trying to accomplish. I mentioned using the Activate Links button to get
the click on the link to take. That works for the most part when just plain
Enter on the link doesn't do the trick.

I tried something tonight that might also work. Go to the link you want to
visit, and route your JAWS cursor to your PC cursor. Then use your left
mouse button, the slash key on the numeric keypad, to click on the link.

HTH,

Dani

Re: boxes

paul lemm

You can virtualize the box by pressing alt, jaws key and W

Then you can navigate the box using the cursor keys.

Hope this helps

Hi, David. You should be able to access the speaker volume from the system
tray by pressing JAWS Key plus f11. from there you can arrow down to speaker
volume and press enter. You want to use the right arrow to increase the
speaker volume. Don't make the mistake of adjusting your speaker balance.
This will cause the volume in both speakers to be unequal unless speaker
balance is 50 percent.

If you see speaker balance first, tab until you hear speaker volume, and use
the right arrow until the sound is at your preference of loudness.

If the Speaker Volume is not in your system tray, go to the control panel
and click on sound and audio devices. The volume is here. If you click on
properties, you can adjust not only speaker volume, but also other volume
controls.

Thank you.

ribbon access question

Jean Menzies <jemenzies@...>

Using Office 2013. This applies to both Outlook and Word, as that's all I've
played with so far.

When I go into the ribbon, say in Word, and access the Backstage view, I
find I can't navigate some things. Example, if I arrow down to Options and
press enter, then down to Trust Center and press enter, then I only hear key
tip letters as I tab across. I don't hear what they do. I know if I happen
to know the long key tip sequence, it might accomplish a particular task.
But am I missing something in terms of knowing what these letters mean? I
find this behaviour in various places. Are there any changes I can make to
improve access?

I have Jaws virtual ribbons turned off. Personally, I found no difference in
access with it on or off. I am using the alt key to access the ribbons
command, left and right arrows to change ribbons, and tab and shift to move
between controls. I also know about control and left and right arrows to
change ribbon groups. But that still doesn't let me know what these fields
are where I only hear the access key and no description.

Thanks, George. I didn't' find it on the default installation last night, but I know I've seen that program somewhere. I guess you produce your serial number to prove you own the suite. I remember the time we had finding that darn thing; it was written on the inside cover of the container, a rather odd package, resembling a small canned ham. Now, . . . back to JAWS.

Hi all,

For those that haven't kept up, one note blind has broken down a lot
of barriers and you can do more than you thought previously possible.
You can not only create notes and organize your stuff, but you can
also attach files, images, and audio and video recording to notes too.
The latest audio demo covers this.

Give it a listen:

Thanks for taking the time,

OneNote to at least get an idea of its potential, if that's not a catch

Hi all,

For those that haven't kept up, one note blind has broken down a lot of
barriers and you can do more than you thought previously possible. You
can not only create notes and organize your stuff, but you can also
attach files, images, and audio and video recording to notes too. The
latest audio demo covers this.

Give it a listen:

Hi, David. If you are not comfortable downloading and running the file which
I previously gave you, here is a more complicated alternative to turning off
autocomplete in Windows Explorer.

1. Open the Control Panel and click on the Internet Options icon.

2. To Turn Off Windows Explorer and Run AutoComplete
A) Click on the Advanced tab, then under the Browsing section, uncheck the
Use inline AutoComplete in Windows Explorer and Run Dialog box and click on
OK.

Note that if you use either of these methods, 1 involving the registry, or
2, involving the Control Panel, it is best if you restart your computer
after the operation you performed.

Thank you.

I am not sure at all of what I am trying to say. It seems when I do a search from the start menu jaws tries to or at least I hear jaws giving me feedback as if it is trying to suggest to me what I want. It is confuseing to hear suggestions while I am trying to type in my search.

I do not know if it is a jaws issue or something else. I have windows 7, i.e. 8 and latest jaws.
