Re: cancelling graphics labels

Mike B. <mb69mach1@...>

Hi Stan,

If you want to remove all of the graphic labels you created for Program X,
go
into your JAWS user settings folder by going to your version of JAWS in the
start/all programs menu, press right arrow twice to get to explore my
settings and press enter. Then once you're in the enu folder, (for English
US) find the file Program X.JGF and delete it. Then you can re-label all of
the graphics from scratch.

Program X, = the program you are labeling.
Hope this helped.

Take care.
Mike

editing contacts in windows live mail

Stan Holdeman

running windows 7 and jaws 14

I want to edit an email address in a windows live mail contact.

Here is what I tried:
I opened contacts and arrowed to the one I wanted to edit.
With jaws cursor I right clicked on the contact for the context menu and chose edit.
The summary page of edit dialogue opened.
I tried to control tab to other tab pages, but nothing happened.
I tried to use the jaws cursor to find the tabs but could not find them.
I know I have edited contacts before, but I don’t remember how I did it.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'VE SEEN MUCH TRAFFIC ABOUT ANTI-VIRUS AND ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES. MANY OF YOU SUGGESTED USING SECURITY ESSENTIALS BY MICROSOFT. I DOWNLOADED IT AND IT SEEMS TO WORK WELL. ONE QUESTION TO ANYBODY WHO MAY KNOW. I'VE NOTICED THAT IN THE SYSTEM TRAY IT SAYS THAT PROTECTION IS ON. BUT AFTER AWHILE, IT DISAPPEARS. AM I STILL PROTECTED EVEN THOUGH THE MESSAGE IS NOT STILL IN THE SYSTEM TRAY? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. THANKWS

JAWS and Windows 7 v. Classic Theme for Win7 computers

Adrian Spratt

FS has replied to the query I sent concerning this debate. Keep in mind that
two of us were told by FS Tech Support on the phone to use Win7 Basic.
Here's what FS's Tracey Jackson wrote just now:

You can use the standard Windows 7 theme, it is not necessary to use the
Windows 7 Basic nor the Classic setting with Windows 7. The only setting
that is recommended is:

1. Open Start Menu

2. Type Control Panel

3. Enter to open control panel

4. Press D until you hit the display link then enter.

5. You'll find radio buttons for small medium large. If they're on Medium
125% up arrow once to small 100%

6. Tab to ok. Follow prompts if prompted to log off and back on.

Back to me. Note that these instructions, although Jackson doesn't say so,
are for making the control panel navigable by first letter.

Re: A question

I often encounter edit fields that don't activate the first time
traveling over them, or only activate when moving in one direction and
not the other, sometimes using the arrow keys rather than tab will
find them, and if all that fails and you're pretty sure you are on an
edit field try hitting enter to activate forms mode.

does anyone know if jaws 11.0.1476 conflicts with windows 7 starter? I have been having problems in that windows explorer stops working so I on my HP netbook so I took it in to the bestbuy geeks and the first time all they did was reformat the computer. the same error happened awhile later and I took it back and they said it is most likely due to a software conflict. I thought jaws works very well with windows, or is it because the starter edition of windowf 7 has bugs in it.

Well, she asked about both the iPhone and kindle to start with. Given
those two items it would seem the device's intended function is not
necessarily the greatest concern.

Jaws requires that you run windows, it's not going to run on a kindle, but
afaik most netbooks do in fact run windows so you should be okay (other
than
perhaps the lack of computing horsepower that the netbook form factor
provides).

Re: kindle is Jaws friendly?

Cynthia Bruce

Hi Lauren,

It is my understanding that the new Kindle Fire, due to be released anytime now, is supposed to be accessible. I can't comment on how good it is, I books is my current preference. You can also download a free I pad app for Kobo, which is the reader for Chapters (the Canadian chain). It is not quite as good as I books, but I have been able to learn to use it fairly well. The other option that seems to be accessible through the free app on I pad or phone is playbooks from Google. Voice over will read the content, but I find it the least user friendly. Unfortunately, the kindle app is not screen reader friendly on I pad, but you can download it to your computer and it will work. It is just that it has its own on board voice, so JAWS is not the voice it uses. I haven't worked with it much, but it doesn't seem too bad.

Cynthia

Hi.
She could also do a WinKey+d to get to the desktop, then tab til she gets to
the Taskbar. Use the left and right arrow keys to find JAWS, then hit
spacebar to activate it.
To use the caps lock plus j, she would need to have her keyboard layout set
to laptop, and she might not have this done if she can't get to the JAWS
window.

Ola, I see that at

you can find a Test Drive opportunity for I E 10.

I'm still using I E 8 with XP Home and JAWS 14.
Does one need Windows 7 to advance to I E 9?
If not, is it recommended to upgrade or is this borrowing trouble?

I have no complaints with I E 8 and to date, it appears I have avoided
security risks with the weekly updates.

I'm still using I E 8 with XP Home and JAWS 14.
Does one need Windows 7 to advance to I E 9?
If not, is it recommended to upgrade or is this borrowing trouble?

I have no complaints with I E 8 and to date, it appears I have avoided security risks with the weekly updates.

Compare and contrast. Thank you, Mitch

I think Caroline said IE 9 and windows 7 worked fine, but when she went to IE10 is when she ran into grief.

You've jogged a similar recess in my mind. Now that I've done a Google
search, it turns out JAWS does support IE10, but I think you have the
explanation, even though Caroline said the configuration used to work fine.

Hello!
Somewhere in the recesses of my mind, I think I heard it said that one needs

Windows 8 to support IE 10

Caroline,

This is clearer to me than your previous post. However, I believe in your
previous post you added the important detail that this configuration had
worked fine and that JAWS's inability to read webpages came suddenly.

Others might have a solution for your current configuration. If not, my
thought is this. I believe Freedom Scientific doesn't yet support IE10. In
that event, you might want to roll back to IE9, which FS does support, and I
can attest that it works fine with Win7.

Even if FS doesn't yet support IE10, you could still write to
support@freedomscientific.com
in case they can offer any advice.

Hi

To answer the question, I am using windows 7, Jaws 14, IE 10

I am not sure if I mentioned that my husband can navigate just fine with the
mouse. It is when I try to read any page with JAWS that it simply does not
say anything but the title of the page. Very frustrating.

Thanks I am lead to believe that this is a JAWS issue. If only I knew what
to do to fix this. Any suggestions would be helpful.
