Oh, you know…I didn’t even think about that particular deal. I was so used to having it off and such with previous versions. Thanks! Jim

Check to see if you have the Reading pane open. If you do, that is the cause of your problem. Turn off Reding pane. Press Alt, V, P, N. The options come up and can be reviewed with the up or down arrow keys. Select off and press Enter.

Greetings,
I have an issue that is annoying me regarding JAWS and Outlook. I can have unread messages in my box and perhaps not want to read certain ones right then and there. As soon as I arrow through messages to get to specific ones, the unread ones no longer show as unread. Is this a JAWS glitch, or do I need to do something else? I’m using JAWS 2022 and Office 365. Thoughts? Jim

I wonder if preview pane is turned on in view
settings.
I turn off the preview pane, I don't want any of my
messages showing until I enter on them.
This is only a guess.

Hi all,
I have also come to much prefer the default of most recent download at the top of the list. Most of the time when I download something, I want to immediately use it, and it is right there at at the top of the list. David

YouTube Transcripts and JFW
Mike Pietruk
Overnight, David Goldfield, on his tech-vi@groups.io list forwarded an
item concerning "How to Get the Transcript of a YouTube Video. I am wondering if JFW2022 can do this. If so, can someone translate this into JAWS steps or would a JAWS script be needed to successfully accomplish this:: From the article, here are the instructions for a PC: ----- On a desktop or laptop, head on over to YouTube.com in a web browser such as Google Chrome and open a video to watch. Select a video. Next, click the three-dot menu icon underneath the title of the video. Select ÿÿShow Transcriptÿÿ from the menu. Select "Show Transcript." The transcript box will open and youÿÿll see the captions listed along with timestamps. You can click a caption to jump to that part of the video. Select caption to jump to timestamp.

Well, no, malware is potentially dangerous...

Though I'm not sure if meow was asking about that, or something else, like the Malwarebytes programme...which seems very reliable and has saved my butt a few times. They also have pretty extensive presence on the web so I think if they were doing underhand things they would probably be called out more. But you all should use whatever software you see fit.

Re: Malware Bytes substitute program
It is absolutely not "conspiracy talk" to say that malware steals information from computers. It's one of the many classes of malware out there.
And malware is definitely a danger, but to be absolutely clear, Malwarebytes isn't. It has been a respected Malware removal tool for decades now. I haven't used Malwarebytes actively in a while since most security suites, including Windows Security, have been folding malware scanning and removal into their functionality. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Friendship. . . As for me, I simply sort the folder by the date modified. This is, of course, a matter of individual preference—as it should be😀.

Re: Malware Bytes substitute program
I will suggest, again, that if you think you have any sort of possibly persistent threat, the very best and most thorough scan type Microsoft offers is the Windows Defender Offline Scan. It can get at things that anything that needs the OS to be running simply can't. It was designed for this purpose and is simple to use.
See: Help protect my PC with Microsoft Defender Offline [Step-by-Step instructions for Windows 10 and 11 are given here] If you want the "tech geek level" information, see: Run and review the results of a Microsoft Defender Offline scan [not easy reading] -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Friendship. . .
