Hello there,
I need to know how to repaired Jaws 16 ? I never know how to repaired jaws
and download from fs website but I have jaws 16 disc !! One of FS support
was trying to do it for me but when she try to jaws tandem she couldn't stay
connect because jaws crashed so she told me that I need to repaired jaws and
download from FS website ! Here what she say in e-mail below !!
Hi,

Here is what I was trying to say on the phone. It seems to me that your jaws
needs to be repaired. when I tried to do tandem while we were on the phone,
jaws stopped speaking and then the tandem crashed, and I could not stay
connected to your computer. it would be helpful if there was a sighted
person on hand to help do the repair since I cannot stay connected to your
computer through tandem. In order to repair jaws, we need to download jaws
from the freedom scientific web site, and then run a repair.

Is it hard for me to repaired jaws without sighter help and I'm hard of
hearing ?
Addison

Hi,

I typed from the run dialog, jaws16 /type repair and only heard Jaws
Professional. Can you provide the syntax again? Thanks.

end do /type repair and that will work as well.

Every time I start my computer, jaws keeps on saying there is 2 things that
are not installed correctly. I have tried a reboot as it suggested. But,
that did not fix the problem. It also suggested to do a repair. All I haave
is the downloaded filees. How then do I do a repair?

Thank you for getting me out of this mess!!!

Re: removing jaws license

Russell Solowoniuk

Hi,

I think you have 30 days from the date you updated to Windows 10 to roll
back to your previous operating system. I'm not sure if Jaws will still be
there when you roll back though. If it's not, FS gives you 3 activations of
Jaws, so, it depends on how many of those you have used. If you don't have
any activations left, you just need to contact FS and they will re-set your
count back to 3. If you are interested in rolling back to Windows 7, here
are the instructions...

How to downgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1

Introduction

So Windows 10 is finally here. You've taken your free upgrade, poked around
with the new flat design, Microsoft Edge, Cortana, and the whole shebang -
yet something isn't sitting right.

Whether you've run into issues with hardware, incompatible work apps, or
just plain don't like the direction Microsoft went with Windows 10, you may
want to consider rolling back to Windows 8.1 or 7. Thankfully, what may have
been a bit of a pain in the past is now a fairly simple process.

Because breaking up with Cortana can be hard to do, we've put together this
quick guide to help you make it through the emotional turmoil.

Some things to consider

There are a couple of things you should know before starting the rollback
process. The first is that you only have a month to decide whether you want
to stick with Microsoft's latest or ditch it for more familiar digs. Once
that month is up, you'll have to resort to recovery media that either came
with your computer or that you created yourself.

It's also unclear right now if users coming from Windows XP will be able to
roll back. So far, Microsoft has been quiet on that front, only mentioning
Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 as options.

Before you start

Now, with the fine print out of the way, you'll want to ensure your data is
safe and perform a quick check to make sure you can roll back. First, as
with any major system-wide change, we'd recommend backing up your important
files and pictures. Cloud storage offerings, like Dropbox and OneDrive, are
your friends here. However, if you have any sensitive files to back up, we'd
recommend doing so locally on an external hard drive.

And because you're rolling back to a previous install, this process will
obviously only work if you upgraded directly from Windows 7, 8, or 8.1. One
thing you'll want to look for is a folder called "Windows.old" in your C
directory. This contains the necessary files from your old Windows install,
and the rollback won't work without it.

It's go time

After you've backed up your important files and checked that you can indeed
roll back, the process is incredibly simple. To get started, click the start
menu and navigate to the settings app. Once it's open, you'll click through
to the section called "Update & Security."

You'll be taken to the Windows Update page by default, but that isn't what
we're concerned with. In the left pane, there will be an option called
"recovery," and that's where we'll be doing our work. You should now see
several recovery options, but the one that you'll want to go with is called
"Go back to a previous version of Windows." Simply click the button to get
started, and Windows will do its thing.

A few odds and ends

Before Windows dives into the process of rolling everything back, you'll be
prompted to provide the reason you are rolling back. Consider doing
Microsoft a solid and leaving some feedback here. And don't worry: you won't
hurt their feelings.

You'll then go through a couple of screens telling you to keep your PC
plugged in and which files will be preserved in the transition. As a note,
you might need your old password when this is finished, so be sure to
consult your password stash for that.

After you click through the screens, Windows will ask you one last time if
you want to roll back. After clicking through, Windows will restart and
begin the process. This may take a while depending on a number of things, so
you may want to read a book or play some Angry Birds while you wait
Welcome back!

And with that, you should find yourself back to Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 once
Windows finishes doing its thing. There's a chance that you could be missing
some important files, but as long as you heeded our advice and backed things
up, it should be easy to restore them.

If for some reason something went wrong with the process and you find
yourself in an unsavory place, you may have to resort to a clean install
using the recovery media that came with your machine or a USB install disk.
This can be a bit of a pain if you don't have one lying around, but our
guide to creating a Windows 8 USB installer should be of some use

Hi all guys,

I think that my old computer, doesn't like windows 10 so much, and it is
working very slow, opening programs like Outlook 2007, it takes forever to
open. So I am thinking that probably will be healthy for my old computer go
back to windows 7. I have been reading on internet, that If I have the media
of windows 7, I just need to reinstall windows 7 on my computer like
formatting the whole hard drive. But I am trying to keep my jaws
authorization key, and I read that if I uninstall the license on my older
computer, I will not add this key in the fs server, so I will need to call
FS and ask them another key. It is true?
It doesn't make any sense, but can someone confirm that if I uninstall the
license in my computer, I will not be able to use it again, unless I call FS
and ask them for another key?
Thanks

I believe you need to call FS for another license. removing the existing license does not put the key back.

Because the upgrade will change technical components and the way jaws
interact with windows so you must repair jaws.
So josef, just too things. If I use the media creation tool, can I build an
iso wich include a product key and where will I find the key if it being the
case? And also, will I stil need sighted help or a talking desktop bootable
when using that tool for install? If not, does that mean you build the
complete install, or just the windows iso you need like it comes on the dvd?

Re: Installation of Windows 10

Nermin

Hi Pablo,

I don't think it has anything to do with age.
If you want to go back to Windows 7, there is an easier way.
From within Windows 10, you can downgrade and restore the old system during
30 days from the point of installation. Try to see if that works. You won't have to fiddle with JAWS activations, and your authorisation number should be retained.
And no, you cannot put the authorisation back onto the FS server.

And here's a tip for anyone wanting to spare the hastle when reinstalling.
Provided your machine stays the same and does not change its locking code after a reinstall, you can always authorise JAWS by putting JAWS.cps back onto the drive.
This file can be found in c:\program Files\Freedom Scientific\Activator.

Copy that to a save place, and whenever you have to reinstall your OS, copy it back to the same place.
You will not have to reauthorise, provided the locking code of the machine hasn't changed.

Regards,
Nermin

Yes Mike, it is what FS recommend. Running windows 10, if you were running
windows 8.x or windows 7, they recommend to repair jaws.

Hello! I hate to correct anyone on the list, but I have to say that just
because you are running Windows 8.1 does not mean you won't have to do a
JAWS repair. I installed Windows 10 last night, and upon turning on my
computer this morning, I got a message saying that the mirror display driver
was not working properly. I did indeed have to run a JAWS repair. I was
running the latest build of JAWS 16 as the FS instructions stated you had to
install first. Not sure why this happened. Those of you who are upgrading
from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 may encounter the same thing I did. Not to
worry, once you run the repair, all seems to work OK.

I don't see why not. Before they do anything, though, make sure to retrieve
your Windows 10 product key. Otherwise, you may not be able to activate
Windows 10.

My computer needs repair. Can tech take all software off hard disc, put
win10 and Office 2010 then download J16 without doing a repair on J16?

Could be a silly question but I would like to know for sure.

Thanks

Because the upgrade will change technical components and the way jaws
interact with windows so you must repair jaws.
So josef, just too things. If I use the media creation tool, can I build an
iso wich include a product key and where will I find the key if it being the
case? And also, will I stil need sighted help or a talking desktop bootable
when using that tool for install? If not, does that mean you build the
complete install, or just the windows iso you need like it comes on the dvd?

Hi,

I used both jfw 16 and narrator and I had no problems. Once you are
upgraded you need to run a repair on jaws.

Hi,

I know there's been much discussion of various aspects related to this
topic. However, I'd like to know if anyone here has successfully
installed
or upgraded to Windows 10 independently.
Did you use JAWS 16 or Narrator or both? I'm ready to install this
but don't know that I'll have a sighted person around to help, so want
to make sure I can do this with one or two screen readers.
Any tips will be helpful.
I've got my machine set and ready to go.
Jim

Hello List:

If I am not mistaken, the upgrade to Windows 10 is free. Then I was reminded
that, for Bambi, the feed in the deer feeder is also free. So is the bullet
Bambi gets when she shows up for dinner.

Hi all,

I upgraded my Win 8.1 to 10, but JAWS refuses to announce the start menu. It
will sometimes say Cortana, but other than that it stays pretty silent.
I've already uninstalled JAWS completely, restarted and reinstalled JAWS,
but the problem still persists.

Anyone ran into that on their path to Windows 10?
I am using a netbook with Win 10 32 bit on it, a Medion 98700.

Regards,
Nermin

Re: Installation of Windows 10

Hi,
Yes, and there are other issues that should be fixed soon, some of which are issues with somewhat fundamental Windows 10 features, which makes me wonder if
FS came out with a half-baked solution last month (I hope FS is doing something these days to fix them and to support Edge).
Cheers,
Joseph

Only if you are upgrading from Windows 7; if upgrading from Windows 8.1, a
JAWS repair is not necessary.

changing the "view" in outlook 2010

Barbara Hansen <the2skibears@...>

Hi List friends,

Regarding the info on losing messages in outlook, and the suggestion to
change the view menu, I need to know how to do this. The suggestion, alt-V,
c, v, did not work for me. When I bring up the ribbons menu and enter on the
"view" menu, nothing happens. It just says "blank". I also tried arrowing
and tabbing and still says "blank".

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Barbara

Hi,

If you are upgrading from 7 you need to run a repair on jaws sense 7 uses
the mirror display driver and 8 and 10 do not.
