Marion,

The method hasn't changed since JAWS 14. From which version were you upgrading?

If forms mode seems different, check your forms mode settings in the JAWS quick settings menu, JAWS key+v. I just checked. If you type "forms" into the search field that appears when you open quick settings, you can arrow down through several results and make appropriate changes.

Re: jaws and math

Marianne Denning

APH also has an audio graphing calculator. I like it much better the
the program from Viewplus.

I will be nosy here. Why can't you use nemeth code? It is not as
hard to learn as the braille code. If you have issues with feeling
the braille that is one thing but if you are afraid you can't learn
nemeth code, it is so much better than any computer program, or makes
it much easier to do math.

Do you have a math tutor? What level of math, high school algebra 1,
algebra 2 or college algebra?

I am a teacher of students who are visually impaired so I want to make
the best recommendation possible. You can email me off list so people
who aren't interested don't get all of this mail.

The web site he was talking about is

and looks quite interesting.

Here are a few facts about the graphing calculator:
"Audio Graphing Calculator (AGC)
Get the Audio Graphing Calculator
The AGC provides the functionality of handheld scientific calculators
commonly used in the classroom. Operating on a flexible Windows platform and
augmented with audio and tactile feedback, the AGC provides an alternative
for people who cannot effectively use a handheld calculator, or those
seeking a more interactive interface.

The AGC is accessible to anyone who can use a computer, regardless of
ability, allowing the user to concentrate on math, not on learning the tools
to access it.

Universal- use features include:
•Describing of graph shape through audio tones and cues •Speaking menus
•Scalable visual display •Keyboard navigation •Tactile output options

New Features for AGC include:
•Advanced matrix functions
•More powerful expression evaluator
•Ability to locate polar coordinates
•Display multiple graphs and find intersections •Faster computation time
•More statistical functions"

Hope this helps.

Re: excel

The formula could be an if formula. If (cell) equals three, enter 1 in (next cell). Then do a summary of the counts of 1. For both columns where 1 appears.

=b1+d1. Would appear in say, e1.

My JAWS usually pops me into the form field when I go to the website.
If it doesn't, or I want to look around before completing the form
field I press enter when I am on the edit field and I hear a tone and
know I am in the form field. That has been true for several versions
of JAWS. I move from form field to form field with the tab key.

Create a formula using countif for each of the columns you want to check, then add them together.

if you wanted columit would beample, rows 1 through 20,
countif(b1:b20),'50')

Control-j does this in i.e. 11.

Dear list,

When I download books from the BARD web site on my Windows 8 computer with
Jaws 15, I am having a problem with being able to keep track of the download
progress. Often When I am downloading a book, after it has started
downloading it seems to disappear. I mean that I can't find the progress
window by alt tabbing or from my window list. I when I can't find it
anywhere I go back and try to download the book again, and sometimes even
athird time. All of the sudden a window pops up telling me I have three
downloads in progress. Where has this window been all the time I've been
looking for it? Is there someway I can keep track of this? thanks
