Bonanza.com is the place to go.  It is reliable and like Amazon, will intervene with its sellers if there is any delay.  I bought Office 2013 Pro for $35 just last month.  It has the lowest prices I see anywhere on used software.

Most of my sighted clients have no idea how to do a restore even if they wanted to, but several have been very, very thankful indeed that they had a backup that they'd taken on a regular cycle when they had storage failure (whether HDD or SSD) but had to have me do the actual restore.  It sure as heck beats losing all the data one acquires over years on most computer systems!

I’m with Brian. Macrium Reflect is a great program for making images of your entire system. I did need a bit of sighted help to restore one of those images but when the hard disk on my Windows 7 box died the other day, I was able to purchase a replacement from Amazon for about $50, restore the backed up image from my external USB drive and be back in business after a few hours. Here is the download link to Macrium Reflect for anyone who is interested:

My problem with the fingerprint scanner has nothing to do with setting it up (that part went fine), it's just that whether it works for actual login is very hit-or-miss and it doesn't seem to matter how often I clean the thing or how carefully I position my finger.

To the original poster, what was the problem with narrator and the

Then it will tell me to move my finger around while lifting it and

Hi James,

If you are using MS365, then I am assuming the email client is Outlook. To do a find press Control + Shift + F. You will land in a field in which you can type a search term. If that is what you are searching for type the term. Then tab and you will be in a combo box where you can choose the search term to be either located in just the subject or in

both the subject and body of the emails.

If you are looking for email that was sent from or sent to someone, tab passed these fields and you will find fields in which to enter either the from or to names.

After you have entered the search terms you want press enter. When the search is complete you will get the  message “find now.” Once you get that message press F6 and you will be in the list of messages it found.

I hope that helps!

Back when I was using Windows Live Mail.  I could search for a particular word in any folder or subfolder by going through the menus/ribbons without any problems.

Now, after using MS365 for around 15 months now, I still can’t figure out how to use the search feature.

I could come up with around 5 or 6 additional problems that I have with MS365 but I don’t want to give myself a headache thinking about them.

I use MS365 because  it is better for me than any thing else that I have tried.  Including Windows mail and Thunderbird and the web mail that Gmail and A T and T offer.

So, I’m not saying that it isn’t the best thing going, but, at least for me, I still can’t do some very basic things like search folders for a certain word or phrase.

For example, the hot key like Control, Shift, A goes in to advanced search.  That works fine for me.  But following the prompts/understanding the menus from that point to find what Iam looking for just isn’t working for me.  I’ve run in to dead ends with other things that were very easy with WLM.

A search on Messages, at the very minimum, searches the folder in which you are focused plus ALL its child folders and their subfolders.  If memory serves, it will not search in the folder tree above where you are.  But if you're sitting at the inbox level everything else is either at that level (and gets searched) or below it.

I'm talking about the standard CTRL+E search.  You can exercise additional control in the advanced search, but I only use that once in several blue moons.

It reads everything in Outlook, but no file names of folders in my documents or downloads. It isn’t reading anything on the task bar, and it doesn’t even read when I scroll through the window list when I hit shift F 10.

I'm curious to hear some specific examples from you.  I absolutely will not deny the seemingly endless stream of new bells and whistles from Microsoft and others, but with the sole exception of the introduction of the ribbon interface (and even then, only for a subset of commands), I haven't encountered many keyboard shortcuts change at all.  The "old standards" have been the same quite literally for as long as I can remember, and the Windows commands that form the core of many programs (e.g., Save, Save As, the navigation dialog for both, Open, etc.) have been, too.

There is very seldom, in my experience, any shakeup in existing shortcuts secondary to new additions to the UI, whatever those additions may be.  Note well I said seldom, not absolutely never.

moderated Keystrokes for Developer toolbar in Office 365

Don Mauck

I’m cross posting hoping that I can see if this is a bug or if I’m doing something crazy.

I’m trying to create “Radio Buttons” from the developer toolbar in Word using Office 365.

I think I should be able to do that from the Developer toolbar, (alt+l). Then I should be able to press “n” to get into the Legacy Menu. I cannot get that keystroke to work. Not in JAWS2020 or the latest release of JAWS2021. Can someone please tell me if there’s a better way to create the “Radio buttons,” as I know it can be done.

By default, its only searching on the current mailbox, it will not search for sub folder or other. Unless your focus is else where.

What if I do not know where the word or phrase is located?

In other words, how do I get outlook to check all places for my phrase or word?

Take care and stay safe!

Hi Brian and list,

First, let me apologize for being so far behind on reading emails.

Regards,

James B

Since we are talking a computer I usually recommend that doing a simple restart is your best option. Not only will that start Jaws fresh, but it will also clear any other stuff. When I was still using my old poit of sale software and also in Sage 50 Accounting I often have to go back and forth between using the newer GDI hooking method and the older method for Jaws to get information using the accessibility display driver and there are times when Jaws will just not read anything with the Jaws cursor where otherwise it should and just unloading and reloading Jaws won't work, but doing a restart will.In the case of a co

OK, I tried unloading and loading JAWS, and that seems to have done the trick. It is strange though because I have never had this happen before.

Hi All,

To my knowledge, I did not do the most recent JAWS update. I was just working away on my Dell laptop, and all of a sudden, during the process of copying some files from my downloads folder, JAWS stopped reading my menus. It reads everything in Outlook, but no file names of folders in my documents or downloads. It isn’t reading anything on the task bar, and it doesn’t even read when I scroll through the window list when I hit shift F 10.

I am running JAWS 2021 and Windows 10. I haven’t shut down in case that does something I can’t undo.

Thanks so much,

Cynthia

Closing all your programs/apps and restarting your computer would be the first think to do, as most likely it will result in restoring normal behaviour.

Hi.  Press L to load files.  You will land at the file name edit box.  Shift tab twice, then press backspace to get out of which ever folder you are at and until you are at the "This PC" window.  Then press the letter D to navigate to your D drive and press enter to get into your d drive.  Press whichever letter that first spells out your folder that contains your music, etc, for example, "M" for music.  Then navigate within your folder structure to get to the files and playlists you want.  Cheers!
