Using the cRM IMIS with Jaws
Murray Peat <murraytp@...>
Hi people, Interested to know if anyone on this list has used a CRM called IMIS with Jaws. I am going to try it out tomorrow so I guess I will find out for myself soon enough. Any experiences would be welcome or hints etc.
I am using Jaws22 Pro on Windows Enterprise 10
With appreciation

I agree about disconnecting peripherals to test. The reason I think it’s a power supply issue and not directly caused by overheating is that the unit seems to be switching on all by itself, too, and not just shutting down/rebooting while in use. To me, this suggests intermittent power or perhaps surges caused by a faulty power supply. Could be as simple as the cable though. Try when not plugged in.

Power supply, as someone mentioned before. You could try leaving the computer unplugged for a while and see if it still does this. If not, then I guess you have a relatively easy fix as you might just have to replace the charger/adapter. Otherwise, it’s internal power supply that is faulty, is what it sounds like – but get it checked. The laptop is not old, certainly, but laptops can be delicate things and weird stuff like this can go wrong.

Good morning everyone, I am a bit surprised and at a loss as to what to do. I have a very good and nice laptop that I purchased a little over a year ago. It’s one of the best I’ve had. Yesterday, I was about to attend a function via Zoom when I noticed that even while it was closed and supposedly off, it rebooted itself. I knew that because the Windows startup sound came up. The battery was at 86% at the time. I actually opened the computer to see if it was on, but it wasn’t, so I pushed the power button, and it supposedly booted as normal. Once I went through getting going and getting my Zoom room set up, I noticed JAWS stopped talking, and a few seconds later, it rebooted again. I thought it might be doing Windows updates, but that was not the case. I went through everything again, and while I waited for my people to come to my zoom room, I went to Outlook to check email. I heard a click, the computer turned off and began rebooting again. After doing this a couple more times and being very tired from the general day, I gave up and closed my laptop and just left it plugged in. Sure enough, from the other room, I heard the faint sound of the Windows Startup sound. I’ve never seen this happen before. I could understand an update doing several reboots, but this was not the case. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Again, this is a great laptop and has served me well, until yesterday. Thanks. I agree with the overheating idea. Try to elevate the edges so that air can flow under it. If that doesn't help, I'm afraid things are going to get interesting. Disconnect all peripherals just to make sure that isn't causing your problem. If it still crashes and you have a warranty, time to use it, otherwise find out if a repair would be worth the money. The laptop does not sound that old. Is the environment the laptop is being used in, a dusty place? Are there pets in the house? Is it possible to elevate the laptop so as to increase breathing and heat shedding? So books stacked underneath would not be ideal for getting space between the desk and the underside of the laptop. Have you finally powered-off the laptop? Was it possible to do this and if so, how has the behavior of the laptop been since then?

I kind of got there tonight by floundering around in the Zoom menus, and with the help of some sighted assistance, but I have to believe there’s a simpler way to do it than what I have come up with so far.
I’m fairly good with participating in Zoom meetings that already have been set up, and I’d now like to expand my horizons a bit.
I’m using the latest build of Jaws on a Windows 10 PC, and I updated to the latest version of the Zoom client earlier today.
