Re: Setting Function Keys to NormalGood morning!
Mr. White has asked the question that must be answered: Make and model of the computer?
There are some makes, Lenovo springs to mind, where the changes to turn off media keys/action keys/hot keys (or whatever that maker calls them) can be done outside of BIOS/UEFI and without sighted assistance. For most, and unless something has changed I know for HP, it must be done in BIOS/UEFI and requires sighted assistance. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Here is a test to find out whether your mission in life is complete. Hi, Mike. What is the make of your computer. Each computer has different

ways of turning off "Media Keys" or "Hotkeys". If it's a Dell, press the FN key, which is usually just to the right of the lefthand CONTROL key plus the ESCAPE key. If it's another brand, you may be able to use a software program resident on the computer to change the behavior of the function keys. Some Lenovo computers will respond to the same steps I gave above, press the FN key plus ESCAPE, and see if that changes the behavior of the function keys. Bill White billwhite92701@...

have you tried using the advanced touch cursor mode, activate touch cursor, press jawsKey+a to turn on and off advanced mode, move to the object you want to see and press alt+enter for its properties. That may help.

Re: In Outlook, how do I "Click here to view in web browser?"
Bill White
No, I have it displayed as html. Some emails don't have a link that allows you to view it in the browser. They only give a notice in the Outlook info bar.

Hi, Brian. When I get the message saying, click here to view the message in your browser, it is just a notification, and there seems to be no way to click the link. There doesn't even seem to be a link when perusing the message. So there seems to be no way to actually look at the prompt to click here. I'm sure that, as a sighted person, there is some place that this prompt appears, but I know of no way of focusing on the prompt, or of finding the link that allows one to click and view the message in the browser.

Hi, all, I used to, say a year or so agao, be able to send a post to Next Door. I’m looking for a dog walker for my pet dog and wanted to post on there but it is impossible. I’ve tried different ways, going to “post a message” or “messages” and they want me to fill in the area I want it to go which I can’t seem to do. Has anyone had any luck with posting a message on there and if so, please let me know what you did and how you did it. Thanks so much in advance. Frustrated Judy & Libby

Dennis Brown
Hi Chris, Can you give the web site of the headset you speak of? I’m trying to use Dragon, and I have a hearing impairment, so the JAWS volume needs to be higher than most users. With no hands, typing with my telegraph key, because of medical issues, has gotten more difficult over the years, so some other input method is sought. The microphone I currently use picks up JAWS—it is a stand-alone—so I might give J Say a try.
Thanks, Dennis T. Brown

Hi, I don’t typically have jaws volume that loud. I’m asking for recommendation sake in case I have to recommend this headphone to someone that has some form of a hearing impairment where they have the screen reader louder than one would typically have it.

Hi Brian!
Comments surrounding this topic draw out the fact that there are at least two different ways this issue happens: 1) as Bill has pointed out and as was my issue when there is no link imbedded within the message body itself to view the email in a browser and 2) as you are bringing up wherein there is a link imbedded within the email message body. “1” seems to be addressable by Bill’s earlier suggestion. “2” seems not to pose an issue as the link is right there to click on.

Hi everyone, I asked about this awhile back and cannot locate the responses. My apologies. I have Win 11 and latest version of JAWS on Dell laptop. When I turn on PC, Jaws is all lively and works fine for me to enter pin on log in, then promptly goes silent. I’m forced to use keyboard commands to desktop and first letter navigation to turn JAWS back on. How do I get JAWS to just stay on without this interruption after log in? Thanks, again, Dan

Hi,
can someone confirm the behaviour that Jaws does not read the AutomationProperties.HelpText for any UI element, if the AutomationProperties.Name attribute is set? I would consider this a bug, isn’t it?
