With the previous version of Quick Assist, there
was complete access to the program for a screen-reader. I am going to contact
Microsoft's Disability Help Desk, to see if they have a solution.

Andrew:
I did that, with no success.
On another occasion, I found an "Open" button. When
I clicked on it, a few seconds later, a message came up telling me that the
update had been updated successfully. However, when I tried Quick Assist, I was
presented with a blank screen.
The upshot is, I cannot get access to the
Program, in the way I was able to do so, using the previous version of Quick
Assist.

Not unless FS has an ARM version for download. Hey, wouldn't that be using the Mac IOS? Then you will need to use VoiceOver. It should be available to you on your system already. Glenn

Hi, In theory, yes provided that Vispero decides to incorporate a technology named ARM64 EC, only available on Windows 11. While Windows 10 on ARM might be able to run 64-bit x86 code, better support came with Windows 11 (Version 21H2; now this will get confusing very soon). Cheers, Joseph

Hello everyone:
Has anyone on the list needed to use Quick Assist recently? I have! I got a prompt telling me there was a new release of Quick Assist, and I would need to get it from the Microsoft Store. My question is:
Has anyone who has limited or no vision on the list, successfully try and find and download the update to Quick Assist from the Microsoft Store. Personally, I had no success in downloading and applying the new update for this program.
I pose the following suggestion:
I would like anyone who has no vision or, very limited vision, try and successfully download the update for Quick Assist from the Microsoft Store. If anyone who is not vision impaired, please do not come in on this topic for at least 2 days, to see if muy challenge can be met. If anyone who is visually impaired, managed to do what I failed to do myself, will they plese enlighten me as to how they did it, with step-by-step instructions, so I can complete the update to Quick Assist. Whuy Microsoft did not include the latest update to Quick Assist as part of the Windows update process, will always be a mystery, except to Microsoft, of course.
Thanks in anticipation:

Re: jaws 2019 and reading the properties pages.

Some people have reported that the JAWS cursor does not work properly in much of Windows 10. I already know it doesn’t work properly in universal apps, but it should work in file explorer. Your method is how I usually look at file properties, too, and I’m actually using JAWS 2018 (Windows 10, 21h2). If y ou virtualise the window, though, it’s a better choice in a way, even though it involves a few more keystrokes.

Hi,
I’m new to this group, but have used Jaws a long time. Last December I got a new HP all-in-one computer running Windows 11 and Jaws 2022 most recent update.
On the new system my speaker is built in as a part of the screen (at least that is how it feels). On my old Win 10 computer I had a separate speakers and it had a little volume control that I could increase and decrease the volume easily and quickly. I’ve tried looking in the Jaws help but cannot find what I need to do in order to adjust the Jaws volume on the fly. Can anyone point me in the correct direction for making this adjustment?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, John. View the properties of a file or folder in the following manner,
1. Navigate to the file or folder, but do not open it. 2. Press ALT plus ENTER on the file name. 3. Press ALT plus JAWS key plus W to virtualize the screen. 4. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate through the information. 5. Use the left and right arrows to navigate through the information, character by character. 6. Use CONTROL plus Left Arrow, and CONTROL plus Right Arrow to navigate the information word by word. 7. Use CONTROL plus A to select all information on the screen. 8. Once selected, use CONTROL plus C to copy the information to the clipboard. 9. Use CONTROL plus V to paste the copied information into any text or word processing file.
