Dave...

Jim Snowbarger, I think. But not sure he did scripting beyond that for audio
and music-related apps. Could be wrong, and he did develop the Hot Spot
Clicker concept.

Yes, there is practically no material available for developing apps in
Access (or any VBA based).

I'm using common windows controls and appears the properties need to
be modified for JAWS. Some examples of issues Im having are:
- a password Textbox field, JAWS echoes the characters typed in and
not asterisk
- radio buttons (in an Option Group) when checked, JAWS reads as
Not-checked (and vice-versa)
- cannot Tab to the heading of a Tab control

Anyone else gone down this road?

Thanks

Dacia, the best way to do a JAWS repair is to download the build of JAWS
that you are running. For instance if you're trying to repair JAWS 16, go
to the web-site and download the current build of JAWS 16. Once you have it
downloaded, navigate to the place where you downloaded the file. Then you
will want to copy the path. You will do this by pressing shift plus the
applications key. Then navigate to the option that says copy path. Once
you select this option by pressing enter, the file name is copied to your
clipboard. Now, press Windows plus the letter R to bring up the run dialog
box. Press control plus the letter V to paste the name of the file into the
run dialog. Then, you will need to enter the following switch command at
the end of the file name.
/type repair
Then press enter, or tab to Ok, and press enter. The JAWS repair process
should begin.
Hope this helps!

Mcginnis, Barbara

You are right, that was his name Snowman. I don't know his real name. He wrote JAWS scripts also.

Okay you old timers. Question: What was the name of the individual

something to do with snow. Does anyone remember?

Yes, there is practically no material available for developing apps
in Access (or any VBA based).

Thanks

Sandra Streeter

I’m BACK, but with no problems, this time!!! Just a few quick comments—I really am enjoying the continuing comments about French, and although I have a satisfactory answer for my original quandary, I keep looking at the new posts, because I might just learn something to keep in mind when a new issue arises—so, thanks, everyone.

Jim H., you must be from Canada? The only place I ever heard the expression “touch wood” is on an old interview done with the band Rush, which, BTW, I am a fan of. I think it’s ever so more elegant and satisfying than our “knock on wood...”

Off to finish reading the new entries.

Thanks

Hi ,
Is there any documentation or sample code out there for making MS
Access applications 508 compliant and/or readable with JAWS ?

Thanks

Thanks Dave, hopefully that user will chime in. Any ideas on how I can get a hold of those scripts for older JAWS versions.

Thanks

FS stopped script development for MS-Access several versions ago; I think

How did you get JAWS to restart after it stopped with the first system
reboot during the Windows 10 installation process?

Hi,

I just went through the process of installing Windows 10. The Freedom
Scientific site:

http://www.freedomscientific.com/Support/TechnicalSupport/Windows10Upgrade

says that you have to first use the utility tool to remove all versions
of JAWS prior to the latest version of JAWS 16: 0.4350.

The latest version of Jaws works with Windows 10.

Even if you don't want to install Windows 10, I would suspect that the
utility tool can still be used to clean up your computer of older
versions of JAWS.

After running the utility tool, I still had JAWS working and it
continute to work during the download and install of Windows 10. JAWS
stopped when the computer began the first of the several reboots.

Hi,

No,

Here's how you do it.

Once you've copied the file to your c drive do the following.

Enter the run dialog box by pressing alt r then shift tab until you
find the browse button and hit enter on it.

Then go to your c drive and press enter on that. Tab to the list view
and press j until you hear j16 or whatever version you have. Once you
hear that, tab to the open button and press enter. Don't press enter
until you get to the open button. Once you press the open button
you should see the path listed in an edit box. arrow once to the left
and you should hear the letter e then arrow once to the right and you
should be at the end. Once you there, type the following exactly like
this. I've put spaces where they need to be. /type repair so you type
the slash key and then the word type then hit the space bar and type
the word repair. Once you've done that, hit enter and the repair
should begin. It will take several minutes. Mine gave me progress
reports, but apparently that's not always the case.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
I just got done talking to the freedom scientific people, because I was

jaws 16 file or whatever version you are running, and tab to the open
button, then it will already put the path in there so you don't have to.
Once you have hit open, shift tab once and make sure you are at the end
of
the path because it will say.exp at the end. Once you know you were
there,
press the and press the/key then the word type with no spaces then hit

and type the word repair and then hit enter. You have to do it like
that,
or it won't work. I hope these directions made sense. If you have
questions, let me know. It will say EE XE at the end of the path not exp

Can this be done if you have other JAWS-related problems - not just
for
moving to Windows 10.

Thanks.

Dacia, the best way to do a JAWS repair is to download the build of
JAWS
that you are running. For instance if you're trying to repair JAWS
16,
go
to the web-site and download the current build of JAWS 16. Once you
have it
downloaded, navigate to the place where you downloaded the file. Then
you
will want to copy the path. You will do this by pressing shift plus
the
applications key. Then navigate to the option that says copy path.
Once
you select this option by pressing enter, the file name is copied to
your
clipboard. Now, press Windows plus the letter R to bring up the run
dialog
box. Press control plus the letter V to paste the name of the file
into
the
run dialog. Then, you will need to enter the following switch command
at
the end of the file name.
/type repair
Then press enter, or tab to Ok, and press enter. The JAWS repair
process
should begin.
Hope this helps!
