However, what if his name is so common that the person must sort through
hundreds of results?

Hi Ryan,
You can use the mobile site for Facebook on your computer. Here is the URL:
m.Facebook.com
When you type that URL, a easy and accessible page will come up. Type your
friend's name in the search at the top of the page. Then, arrow down to
search results and enter on his name. You will be then taken to his page.
Just arrow down the page to where it says to message this person and press
enter. The message page will open and you can just press e for edit and type
the message and press enter on send. The Mobile site of Facebook is so easy
to use, because it is so basic and no advertising or any of that. Let me
know if you have any questions. Have a great one.

The facebook layout in my Pac Mate Omni is easwy to follow, with simple
basic links. my Pac mate is out for repair now though. From my desktop pc
which I am on now I would like to message my brother on Facebook, but when I
go to his name on my desktop pc web interface I can't find the message link
or a history of stuff I've written him before my Pac mate was sent back. If
you have overcome this issue please let me know what you do. I want to
contact him individually in a chat, not as part of a group. How do I do this
from a desktop pc? Is there a way to access a basic html version of
facebook? And while I'm at it what about a basic html version of Hotmail? I
can't use the current web interface because it relies on screen taps. I'm

There is a Kindle app for the computer with an accessibility plug-in.
But I prefer to read Kindle books on my Iphone. Either way will work, but the iOS app gives more control and a smoother reading experience.

I use my iPhone to read the kiddle books but there is also a software for the computer to read them there too. The iPhone does a pretty good job with kindle books, and though I prefer audio books for pleasure reading I have found the kindle app great especially since the rest of my family is sighted and we can share the kindle books and all read them.

Re: Buying Kindle books

Yea, it started doing that to me as well. It seems to happen once you press redirect to get to the accessible site. The next time you try to go to the real site, it brings you back to this mobile site, thinking it’s doing you an accessible favor. Too bad you can’t buy what you want from there. If you call support, they can give you a link that seems to reset it for you as long as you don’t take their awesome advice, and click on the site that is supposed to be so accessible.

Re: Video player

Someone please explain to me what the “touch cursor” is, because I have a disk copying program that used to work quite well before I got JAWS 17.  It still occasionally works as long as I exit out of JAWS 17 and go back to JAWS 15, but it now has a nagging JAWS problem, at least I think it is JAWS that is malfunctioning here, because, when the program comes on, all I hear is the words JAWS CURSOR, JAWS CURSOR, JAWS CURSOR, JAWS CURSOR, JAWS CURSOR…being repeated like that until my mind is ready to snap!  What *IS* the JAWS cursor, and is there actually a way to stop it from being an obstruction to my using my disk copying program?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.  Even if you want to contact me off-list, I’d appreciate it.

Maybe try the pass-through gesture (JAWS key plus number 3 above the E letter key), then hit Enter. Pre-position the PC cursor over the Enter key before doing the pass-through.

Mark, I was working with an individual who couldn’t read his mail earlier this week.  When we contacted FS, we were informed that Microsoft released an update, I believe it was an Office update which caused this problem.  It happened on Tuesday of this week.  Not sure if a fix is out, but if you find an update dated December 8 and you can uninstall it, I think the issue should be resolved.  Good luck.
