Hi if you don't know how someone is in the address book do this. Alt period
you can hit the letter you think it starts with and then down arrow or up
arrow to find the person and then hit entre twice then check with Jaws key
and tab to see if it is there and you can redew or just type in the next
person by using there name. I put first names in my address book and that
makes it easier.

Re: sending to multiple addresses in outlook 2010

Adrian Spratt

Drew,

You can enter as many addresses in the "to," "cc" and "bcc" fields as you like. Assuming you have Outlook 2010 set up to autofill addresses, once you start typing a person's name, there's a good chance Outlook will find the whole address in your contacts list and offer to complete it. Listen carefully as you type.

Naturally, you'll have contacts who share first names. For example, I have several friends named Michael. There's one I'm in touch with almost every day, and Outlook immediately recognizes his address and offers to complete it for me. If that's the contact I want, I press enter to accept. If it isn't, I keep typing "Michael," press spacebar, then start in on the last name of the Michael I want to email. Once Outlook verbalizes his contact info, I press enter.

Separate contacts simply by pressing the comma key, or as Judith suggests, a semicolon. Outlook will display the separation with a semicolon.

On my system, Outlook 2010 won't let me read an address in the "To," "cc," etc., fields letter by letter, so try to get each address right as you type.

I can't resist an etiquette note. Most people like to keep their email addresses private. When I'm sending an email to numerous people, I put their addresses in the bc field. That way, I give away no private information. The one drawback is that Outlook doesn't preserve the addresses I used in the bcc field, so I might wonder afterwards if I missed anyone but can't double-check. If that's a cause of concern, keep a note somewhere of the people contacted.

You can also create groups (or contact lists, as they are more properly known), but I've never had an occasion to do that under later editions of Outlook.

Re: one-handed keyboard?

We have a keyboard that is called a Half Qwerty keyboard and we also have a small keyboard made by Datalux. Unfortunately, it does not appear that these are available anymore. The Datalux is about 8 1/2 by 11--the exact size of a piece of paper.

Re: one-handed keyboard?

Lee Maschmeyer

Hi Ann,

I don't use a one-handed keyboard but I do use the two-handed Dvorak keyboard layout in Control Panel. There are Dvorak layouts for one-handed use in control panel though, one for each hand. Unfortunately Jaws does not automatically switch Jaws-specific keys (like Ins+T for the title or Ins+Q for the loaded keyboard set) to the keyboard layout in use but there's a file called keycodes.ini in the Jaws shared scripts directory. Copy that to your personal scripts folder and modify the scan codes to correspond with the new locations. It's a bit tedious but requires only a normal text editor so it's no big deal.

HTH,

Opposite of my problem. JAWS 17 stopped me from getting into settings. Now I can't do it with either version of JAWS.

I have seen that! When I changed from JAWS 16 to JAWS 17, I was able
to get into settings.

this one-word window. The only way is to exit Chrome completely.

Any ideas? Also, has anyone noticed other lost settings with the
current release of JAWS 17? For example, I've had to go through the
tedious process of restoring many, although not all, placemarkers,
even though I'd done this the first time I installed JAWS 17.

No cigar. I went through the process again just now. The only detail I can add is that JAWS verbalizes "no links" shortly after I press enter. I do wait, and I confirm that the virtual cursor is active. Also, I earlier had the same idea of trying JAWS 16, but I got the same results.

Hi,
I just tried to open settings in Chrome and it worked fine. I have an idea.
When you press enter on settings, wait for a few seconds for the page to
load and press insert + Z to see if your virtual curser is on or off. You
need it on. Also, if you have another version of JAWS like 16 try that
instead of using the current version. Take care and let me know how this
goes.
