Sage 100 Accessibility

Brian Prewitt

Good morning,

I was wondering if anyone knew if Sage 100 could be made accessible with JAWS?  We have someone on our leadership team who needs to this accounting software.

Thank you,

Hi Bob!  I have used the Sirius XM on-line service, and it works very well for me.  Once you get the hang of how the sight works, it’s pretty easy to navigate through.  There are not any hyper links.  I can help you figure it out, if you’re interested in emailing me off list.  I’m not sure if I would describe it correctly in an email.  I can show you around though for sure.

I would like to listen to sirius/xm on my computer.

However, when I go to sign up I am presented with a weird screen that jaws doesn’t deal with at all.

No problem, I can wait for sighted  help. However, once I’ve paid my money, can I use seriusxm on my computer?

Has anyone had any experience with this group?

Thanks.

Bob

Hello! The last time I tried to listen to Sirius XM on line, the player was not Jaws friendly at all. There was a time when it was very accessible.

Mike,

The PayPal log-in process you describe is what has always worked for me until now. As I just posted, I can locate the log-in fields with JAWS 15, but not with 16 or 17. Which version did you use here?

Thanks, Mike, but this is the situation where you’re on another website, you’ve put an item in the cart and now you’re going through the checkout process. You select PayPal as your payment method, and then you’re taken to a PayPal page. The “classic” option isn’t shown here. My past experiences were that at this point, the log-in page would appear. Now it doesn’t. Instead, I’m getting a page with a log-in line that JAWS does not recognize as a button. I press enter on it anyway, but I’m taken to the credit card info page that I don’t want.

This looks like a change at PayPal because I encountered it both times I tried to complete a transaction today, on two different websites. I haven’t used either website before, and I like to use PayPal in such cases because of the payment info shield it provides.

All of a sudden, Paypal isn't working for me at a critical point. It used to be that when going through a website's checkout process, I'd click on Paypal and be taken to a page where I entered my email and password to complete the transaction. Now I can't get to those edit fields. Instead, I am taken to the option where you fill out your credit card info, which is a second Paypal option. The button to the log-in page takes me to the same page as this credit card info page. Sighted assistance confirms that the button to log in does take you to the page I want, but JAWS apparently can't work with it. I've tried with IE11 and Chrome. Win7.

Has anyone else encountered this obstacle and maybe even found a way around it?

This is the answer. For me, the PayPal log-in fields appear when I use JAWS 15, but not when I have either 16 or 17 loaded. Thanks for posting the suggestion.

Hi Bob & Stewart,

If you want to change your desktop theme to Windows Classic.  Try the following in Windows 7:
1. While on the desktop make sure nothing is selected.  Press control + spacebar until you hear not selected.  You can also press the F5 key.

2. Open your context menu, up arrow to personalize, & press enter.

3. Press down arrow until you get to an item called Windows7 Basic.  Right arrow to Windows Classic. Hit the enter key to make the
desired change.
Note: To navigate the different desktop themes it is necessary to use the Left / right arrow keys as well as the up / down arrow keys to hear all of them but, the step above, #3, gets you to the Windows Classic theme quickly.

4. Wait a few seconds or until you hear an audio sound effect confirming the completion of this process. I would wait another 2
minutes or so as your computer is making lots of changes and you want to allow lots of time for the process to complete.

Subject: Paypal

All of a sudden, Paypal isn't working for me at a critical point. It used to be that when going through a website's checkout process, I'd click on Paypal and be taken to a page where I entered my email and password to complete the transaction. Now I can't get to those edit fields. Instead, I am taken to the option where you fill out your credit card info, which is a second Paypal option. The button to the log-in page takes me to the same page as this credit card info page. Sighted assistance confirms that the button to log in does take you to the page I want, but JAWS apparently can't work with it. I've tried with IE11 and Chrome. Win7.

Has anyone else encountered this obstacle and maybe even found a way around it?

sirius/xm, does it work with jaws?

Bobb Wiley <rwiley46@...>

I would like to listen to sirius/xm on my computer.

However, when I go to sign up I am presented with a weird screen that jaws doesn’t deal with at all.
No problem, I can wait for sighted  help. However, once I’ve paid my money, can I use seriusxm on my computer?

Has anyone had any experience with this group?

Thanks.
Bob

Re: re is this a jaws related problem? re my pc?

don's instructions should work in Win7. In case it helps, David Whitehead posted instructions that are slightly different and that might work for you.

Whitehead. You may want is to set the theme to classic, thus taking the Desktop out of the alt+tab cycle.
Go to start menu, you will hear, search box edit, Type in, theme, you then will hear; Change the theme press enter. Now you have landed in the list of themes,
The trick is now to find the classic theme. You will need to use your arrow keys.
Once you hear jaws announce classic theme, press enter. You should hear a sound signifying the change. Now alt+f4.

For the record, I recall reading that there's a drawback to choosing the classics theme in Win7, but I can't recall what it is. Whatever it is, it's the reason I didn't switch. I can live with the tiny inconvenience involved in window switching.

Hi Stewart,

To get rid of Task Switching, do the following:

Launch the Start Menu & type the word theme. Then, cursor down until you
find Change the theme & press Enter. Then, cursor up & down & left & right
until you find Windows Classic& press Enter to select it. Then, press alt
to
get the File Menu & press Enter on Close.

Hope this helps,

Don

Re: PayPal

Hi Adrian,

When I log into PayPal I always try to find the, Classic, link & click on it.  This puts you into an older PayPal webpage.

Take care.
