Those I haven't change. they were there prior to any editing done, All

Thanks, I have to use it on my Windows machine as that’s now how I’ll get any new software for downloading. As well as a lot of other processes. There is very little labeling of fields and I’ll bet that there’s no accessible features.

Hi everyone!

I've been having this problem since the last update to JAWS and am wondering if anyone has seen it or has a solution or work around for it. I am running the latest version of both JAWS and Edge on 64 bit Windows 10 Home. JAWS is the 64 bit version.

While browsing the internet, I can enter and change a combo box, but when I want to move on to the next field in the form, I am finding that JAWS is somehow stuck in the combo box and I have to struggle to get out of it. As much as I like the new Notification history feature and its rules, I am seriously considering going back to the April update until this problem is fixed.

I was having a problem with Firefox 102 and the application key not working, and I found one possible way around it.
If you turn on the use unified keyboard method in keyboard/general in settings center, the application key will work, unfortunately arrow keys don't work.  I could live with it if I could set this function to a hotkey, but I don't find it mentioned in the keyboard manager.

This sounds like a nice feature if I could get it to work. I have no problem adding them to PDF’s, but am not clear about how to detect and navigate to them with JAWS. I have Googled this, but all responses only work for sighted users. Is this possible?

I myself used the /DisableExternalServices option when I installed JAWS so I can't use the check for updates as this option prevents JAWS from ever accessing the internet, instead I use a program called SUMo which stands for Software Update Monitor, it scans all my software for their current versions, then accesses an online database to determine if any of my software has an update available. I can then go and get those updates if I want them, or I can tell SUMo to ignore it if I don't want the update.

One of the reasons I did this is because I didn't like the idea that just checking for an update should need administrator access to my system. My opinion is that that should be left to the update/upgrade installer itself.

And yes, using the /DisableExternalServices disables a number of JAWS features, but after almost ten years of using JAWS, I found that I didn't use any of those features anyway.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. But as I was mentioning earlier, even
though I am still using the October or November 2021 release of jaws 2022, I
am no longer getting that automatic pop up window when my jaws first starts
up asking me if I want to yes or no update my jaws to a newer release of
jaws 2022?
I was until about 3 or 4 days ago getting this automatic pop up window
asking me if I yes or no wanted to update my jaws every time when my jaws
first started up, but now I am not. This has got me stumped because as I was
saying, I am still using the last October or November 2021 release of jaws
2022. I have already checked in jaws under basics, and the automatic
notification of jaws updates is yes checked.
I am really hoping that maybe someone has an idea on how I can get back this
automatic pop up window asking me if I want to yes or no update my jaws to a
newer release of jaws 2022 when my jaws first starts up? Would be very, very
appreciative for any help on this matter. Much, much thanks in advance for
any possible help on this.

If you hold the JAWS Home Annual License, what you say is accurate. But if
you are on the traditional licensing scheme, you will not automatically be
notified when a major update comes out—usually around the end of October.

Here's a thought, and this is only a theory. Maybe after a certain amount of time has elapsed, say six months for example, JAWS figures that you don't want to update or upgrade and stops notifying you. Or it could be that after you have declined the update/upgrade a certain number of times, again it stops notifying you.

Have you tried to stop JAWS after your startup has finished and then restarting again? I'd be curious to know if you then get the update window. There is some possibility that at startup, JAWS is trying to get to the information but cannot because the Internet connection is not yet fully active.

You must select yes or JAWS can't tell you if you have an update. Then if you have an update you can choose to install it or not.

the question from the freedom scientific app asking me if I want to let this
app make changes to my computer and I can only select yes or no. Since I am
not sure at this time what this freedom scientific app will exactly do to my
laptop if I select yes, I for now instead select no.

In the jaws help menu, when you activate this app check for updates, I
thought a jaws user gets a list of all the current updates of jaws that are
available, giving the jaws user the option to select from this list the
particular jaws update they want to download?

Hi Annabelle,
"Eloq.sbl" works for me, I've edited it many years back to read Arabic
in a way I understand on the fly and real quick without having to
change the tts voice to anything other than eloquence. But I don't use
the user data directory.
Instead I replace it with the default one in the:
"C:\ProgramData\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\20xx\SETTINGS\eloq.sbl"
replace the "xx" with 21 in your case and open the folder as:
"C:\ProgramData\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\2021\SETTINGS\"
Paste the file and replace it following the prompts, that would do it.

To be honest JAWS frequently reads lines from screens that were closed a
while ago. It's like JAWS does not completely clear the speech buffer
after it has said something thus leaving some garbage behind to be
unnecessarily read again and again.

Here's another example, this one was from visiting amazon.com and
calling up the JAWS find dialog.

3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject.

4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind.

5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration.

6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently.
