Picture Smart is a feature in JAWS, when you send it a picture it will use several services that attempt to describe what is in the picture. Usually it works reasonably well, but sometimes it wanders off into left field.

editing and commenting in share point
Cynthia Bruce
Hi Folks,
I am part of a working/advisory group, ironically on accessibility, and I am struggling with the documents in share point. It seems like I can see comments but not what they apply to, or I can read the document text and know there is a comment without being able to see what the comment says. Has anyone had better luck than I with this? I am using JAWS 2021 and the current version of office 365.
Thanks for any help,
Cynthia |

Calendar in Outlook
kevin meyers <kman2020@...>
Hello, I’m using most recent windows10, Outlook 2016 and Jaws 2022. For some reason out of the clear blue, the order of an appointment has switched around. It now says day view, one total event and then the description. Before it read description, location, time and date. I went into view and the settings and then columns. There was nothing to set the order like what I can do to an email. I talked to Microsoft Accessibility and they said there is nothing I can do at this time. I would have to leave feedback and maybe it would be taken care of in a future update. Has anyone experienced this issue? Cheers, Kevin

thanks, all. i think i have been able to sort this out. documents that are mailed to me using sharepoint are now opening in office applications on my computer. and for folders that are shared with me via email, i go to them on sharepoint and open the relevant file in the relevant office application by right clicking it. warmly, rahul On Mon, 1 Aug 2022 at 21:26, David Kingsbury <davidkingsbury77@...> wrote:

Just as a reality check I went back and tried again, although JAWS identifies the graphic as a graphic, using the 'G' key does not see it, navigation skips right over it.

Re: using office online in chrome with jaws

Hi Rahul , The folks at Freedom Scientific strongly discourage using the online version of Office, only the desktop version. Among other things, I have found Excel to be completely inaccessible. I haven’t played around with the online version enough to see what else goes wrong, but you really must insist with your I T people to install the desktop version. As others have said, this certainly can be considered a reasonable accommodation. With regard to OneDrive, your I T people can set up your OneDrive account so that you can access the OneDrive folder from within your user folder. You can then save files there and manage them from within the familiar Windows desktop environment. It should take them less than 5 minutes to set that up, and all files and folders will be synced online. David |

How are you invoking Picture Smart? Is the graphic showing up as something you can jump to using the JAWS shortcut G? If it is, have you tried INSERT+SPACE followed by p followed by c? Cordially, Curtis Chong -----Original Message-----

Hi Gene, That’s a very imaginative use of Picture Smart. I will try it out next time I run into an obnoxious visual CAPTCHA. As you say, results my vary. I have heard sighted people complain that some of these are not very clear visually, so I imagine that could screw things up. But certainly worth a try. Regards, David

Now: List Rules - 08/01/2022
#cal-notice
Group Notification <noreply@...>
List Rules When: Description: http://groups.io/g/jfw/wiki/List-Policies
**List Policies** 1: Keep it clean. We're a family list, and there are people here who probably don't want to hear everything *exactly* that's running through your head. If you wouldn't see it on TV, it doesn't belong in a post to the list. If you're not sure, email the administration before you post it to the list. Otherwise, you stand to see your posts moderated. 2: Stay on topic. We're a JFW-oriented list. That said, anything related to JFW, its functionality with programs etc is acceptable. If it doesn't have to do with JFW, it doesn't belong on the list. This includes, but isn't limited to, talk of other screen readers such as Window Eyes. 3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject. 4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind. 5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration. 6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently. As always, if there are problems or questions with regards these policies, don't hesitate to send them off-list to jfw+owner@groups.io James, |
