Hi, Curtis. There are plenty of apps and websites that don't play friendly with Narrator. When a program is created, there will always be trade off's, advantages and disadvantages to using that program versus other programs. Just because Narrator works well in this situation, that doesn't mean that Narrator is best at working with a multitude of programs and websites. FreedomScientific has to balance performance among so many programs and websites that occasionally, there will be situations in which a different strategy will need to be used to correct an accessibility problem with a program or website when using JAWS.

Robin, I think I may have a solution for this, though I am living somewhere else and not a Key user.

With JAWS, do the following:

In the website, focus your arrow key at the sign on button. It doesn’t matter if it says expanded or collapse.

Press JAWS key +Z to turn off virtual cursor, and use the tab or shift tab to get back the focus at the sign on button.

If the button is collapse, press space to expand it.

Then press tab and you should be able to go through those menu, like sign on, forget password, and enrol. Just use space or enter to activate the button of your choice, then press JAWS key +Z again to turn on virtual cursor.

I’ve appreciate some input here. It  seems that my bank changed something on the home page to get to the sign-in section. I cannot find the login section at all with JAWS  PC or JAWS cursor. I asked an AIRA agent for a visual description of what was happening. With that, I found that Narrator can find the section, but not JAWS.  I’ll describe the layout from the AIRA agent’s perspective, then   I’d appreciate knowing two things from some of you: I primarily use MS Edge, but did also try this on Chrome, with the same result.

Using JAWS, go to www.key.com.  Press B until you hear Sign-on button. If you click this, it says that the button is now expanded.  JAWS cannot find anything, reading instead a photo description of a woman and a mural. I even tried redrawing the screen and routing my JAWS cursor to the PC cursor.  What AIRA and Narrator show is that a little section appears below this expanded sign-on button where it mentions Online Banking, has buttons to Enroll and Sign-On and links for forgot your password.  Narrator reads these and I can click the sign-on button to open the actual log-in area. 

1. Are you able to find the expanded section with JAWS?
2. We talk about always having two screen readers for cases like this, but do you think it’s reasonable that I’m still pushing back to the bank tech team to say this doesn’t work with JAWS?  I sent in feedback over the weekend, before I had even tested it with Narrator, so I cannot say that the site is completely inaccessible,  but I’m disappointed that JAWS isn’t reading that section once expanded.

One thing I've noticed with Jaws 2022 lately is that at least on my
machine, it seems to become completely unresponsive while using the
task manager and device manager, whereas NVDA works perfectly fine. I
don't know if this is just a Windows 11 issue or if it's something
unique to my machine or if it's an issue with Jaws. Either way I
prefer to use NVDA while using both the task manager and device
manager.

I don't use scripts, so I can't help you there. I do use a braille display.
It is the Focus 40 5th generation. Since I've been a long time user of
Jaws, early to mid 90's, I chose this display over others because I
wanted the two to work well together. Since Then I understand there
are several from other companies that work well with Jaws too.

There is another group. The group I found has a braille display focus only.
Getting them to work with screen readers; including NVDA, Narrator,
IOS, Jaws, etc.; is often discussed on that list. Also deciding which
one might work best with your preferred screen reader. Here is the

I think it’s about $50 in uS funds, give or take $10 or so. Check out their website. I downloaded the software but still haven’t bought it as I struggled to get it configured properly and so never was able to take advantage of the trial period.

However plenty of people use it and swear by it and it seems like a good piece of software.

Your name makes me smile! To turn off automatic updates in new versions of
Windows like Windows 10, which doesn't seem to have that parameter in the
Control Panel like other previous versions (That really makes me mad), you
actually have to create a registry key. If it's not already there, go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. create a new
key called "WindowsUpdate". within that key, create another key called AU.
Within that key, create a Dword value called NoAutoUpdate. Set that value
to 1. If you have Winaero Tweaker, which also helps, set the parameter of
Disable Windows Update to checked, and you should be good to go. It does
sound complicated, but it's definitely worth it if you don't wanna be
bothered with constant updates!

Yes, turning off automatic updates is a good thing.
I don't know if windows 10 or that newer one, LOL, allow one to select

You woun't hear that from me! I've been the computer industry since
1980
and I have always felt that automatic updates are a very bad idea. The
problem with automatic updates is that you may get an update that does
bad thing to your computer, and while you might be able remove the
update, the automatic update feature will just put it back again. It is
always better to wait a while to see what others are saying about an
update and if the news isn't good, you just don't install it!

I've noticed the same thing; my guess, off the top of my head, is
that

something has chhanged with the 2-chromium based browsers.

The question is what; and the work around or fix.

Will be interested in the feedback of others on this.

 But freedom tell me to go to ms and google support.

Has it been determined who actually is being effected:  Jaws users only,
all screen readers, or everyone using Edge or Chrome?
If it's the 3rd situation, Freedom Scientific can do little on its own
other than working with Google and Microsoft to see if they can fix
things.
If it's either of the first 2, then hopefully Freedom Scientific can
figure out to straighten things out.
