I changed my keyboard layout to laptop. Caps lock J
will not open the JAWS menu, but other wise works as the insert key does. Is
this normal? JAWS runs from sys tray.

Hi everyone!
I am trying to get to this web site, when I get there it is in Italian. Edge offers to translate it to English And I tell it to do the translation, but when it finishes the site is still in Italian! Is the translation not working or am I missing something that I have to do with JAWS before I can see the translated page?
Thanks! Gene...

Hello, everyone.
Several members of our County Amateur Radio SKYWARN team have started to use Discord as a way to communicate with each other.
Since I’m the team leader, I thought it might be good if I became familiar with this platform.
Has anyone tried Discord, and is it reasonably accessible with Jaws?

Hi Gene,
It can as long as you’re happy for the numbers to increase by one only.
I used it when I was consolidating Audio book files ripped from CD’S I’d bought when I wanted them all in one folder per book instead of one folder per CD.
Cheers,

I agree that renaming individual files is easy, but when you have a
large number of files you want named using a specific pattern, or you
need to remove certain characters from a bunch of file names, a bulk
renaming utility is much easier than renaming all those file one at a

Hi everyone!
I think I saw someone else ask this but didn't see an answer. Does anyone know of an easy to use and accessible file renaming utility? There was one a while back that I looked at that I think was called "File Renamer" but its main window or dialog had a crap load of fields, some of which weren't very well labeled that tried to throw the kitchen sink at you. That was way to much!
Thanks! Gene...

I did the search and the only thing I found was an File Explorer extension that made copying file names and paths easier than it currently is with just Windows. That's not what I'm looking for, I am looking for something that can rename a bunch of files while doing various operations on the file name, like ending it with a number and incrementing the number as it renames the collection of files. Do a search for it, it was free and give you a lot of features that I'm sure you will like.

Re: Scanners for convenient OCR and Open Book
I have one and I agree that it works well, because it is a federal crime to open mail not addressed to you I like to scan my mail before opening it. It's also a good way to spot junk mail without opening it first. The Pearl wont read through the cellophane they put in the opening on windowed envelopes, so I went back to my flat bed scanner.

The problem is that I don't see any such controls for scanner resolution or color mode or anything else in either JAWS or Open Book. That is why I am thinking that a scanner designed to scan documents instead of photos or for general purpose would work better. My scanner allows me to set up scanning profiles with all of settings preset and can even define one profile as the default profile, but no matter how I set it, I get the same results, which makes me think that both programs bypass the scanner's profiles. Hi Gene, I don't know if one made for documents would give you better results, as it is more a factor of the resolution, which you can change in the scanner's software. I've had good luck with my color scanners, one is a cannon scanner and the other is a all-in one printer scanner. The all in one I have now wirelessly connects to my router and is in the network, but is a pain if I have a lot to scan, going back and forth from one room to another. The one I had before wasn't meant for a network, but I connected it to my router and found it in the network and made it work. I'm not even sure if they make any any more that don't do color. Hi everyone!
I currently have a color photo scanner, I believe that I could get better OCR results if I switched to a scanner designed primarily for scanning documents. Can anyone recommend one? I wouldn't mind a document feeder, but it doesn't need to be one that can hold a ton of pages, if it can hold and feed 10 pages, that would be plenty for my needs.
Thanks! Gene...
