Actually, you can have as many permanent ones as you like. To add a second, or a third, etc., reopen the dialog and tab to “Add.” Press the spacebar, then tab through your options. Just keep in mind that if you have a lot on one document, you might defeat the convenience of placemarkers.

jaws scripts for audacity?
Josh Kennedy
hi
Are there jaws scripts for the latest audacity sound editor program? If so where can I get them from? I will have to use the latest version of audacity to convert some old casette tapes in a week or so with a USB tape player. Any jaws scripts that will enhance the use of audacity will be useful. thanks, Josh |

Re: What is the new keyboard layout
Bill White
Hi, Loy.
The Kinesis line of ergonomic computer keyboards is an alternative to the traditional keyboard design. Most widely known among these are the contoured Advantage line, which feature recessed keys in two bucket-like hollows which allow the fingers to reach keys with less effort as well as a central array of modifiers such as enter, alt, backspace, control, etc. where they can be pressed with the thumbs. All Kinesis keyboards (except the Essential) support the capability to re-map individual keys. Recent models also come with the ability to switch between the Dvorak layout with the press of a special key combination, though keycaps printed with dual-legend QWERTY/Dvorak letters are included only on specific models. Moreover, the keys are laid out in perfect vertical rows to avoid the need for lateral movements during typing.

Power tip: If you hear JAWS say a word and you aren't sure what it is, use the speech history feature (insert+space>H), then scroll around until you find the line with the word in question, you can then use control+arrows and the arrow keys to go to and listen to the word letter by letter. Gene...

I believe a temporary placemarker survives only so long as the document stays open. So when you wish to return to your place after closing a document, work with the dialog that comes up when you press control-Windows key-k. Tab once and you’ll get add. Then tab through the options. To remove a placemarker, reopen that dialog, tab once, then arrow down to delete, and once again tab through your options. From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Karen Reynolds
So if I wanted to use it to mark my place temporarily, close the pdf, a day or so later come back to it. I could use the temporary one? And how do I get rid of them when I don’t need them?

Karen,
I just tried JAWS’s traditional placemarker setting in a PDF file, and they worked. For example, at the point where you want a temporary bookmark/placemarker, press control-Windows key-k. When you wish to return to that spot, press k, and you’ll be taken right there.
For permanent placemarker settings, press control-shift-k. After that, use your arrow and tab keys to view your choices.

Hi, Dan. The intrusiveness occurs if one is trying to record something else and Voice Assistant keeps intruding into the recording. That is intrusive.

Re: jaws says zero in front of all my messages in thunderbird
By the way, Version 102 is not yet a production release. It is a beta that is not being pushed out over the release channel and the release notes page for version 102 notes that it is not yet part of the release channel.
Most of the time, when this sort of software is installed to replace what you already have (and for most of us that would be version 91 dot something) you will lose the customizations you've made, or some of them, which is what could account for the reappearance of the previously fixed announcement of zero. If there's not something you simply must have in Version 102 then please wait until it is offered via the release channel and built-in update feature of Thunderbird. Those kinds of updates are generally very careful to retain all previous user settings choices as part of the upgrade (though sometimes, even then, certain things get switched back to what the Thunderbird developers want as initial defaults). -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Here is a test to find out whether your mission in life is complete. do you know how you fixed it?- I seem to recall that this has something to do with one of the columns (maybe the "message read" marker) that Thunderbird displays ahead of the From field. The solution was to turn off the display of the offending column or to move its position to the very rightmost end of the columns actually displayed. You'll have to play with turning the couple of columns that show up on the left, and there should only be a few of those, prior to From (or, possibly, Subject if you've rearranged things to have that shown before who the message is from), to see what silences the zero. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Here is a test to find out whether your mission in life is complete. Voice assist is very common. Keeps JAWS current and also is a nice feature for some tasks being hands free or even quicker. Especially good for those who have medical or other issues that hinder typing.
