JAWS not reading enough information
David & his pack of dogs <myguidedogis@...>
When I insert a CD into the DVD player/burner, all JAWS reads out is, “What do you want to do when inserting a CD?” But, it does not read out the options. How do I get it to read out my options such as, start playing automatically, do nothing, ask me every time. I’m using JAWS 2018. |

Hi,
Press the Windows key, then type “cmd” without the quotes. You should hear Command Prompt Desktop App. Now press your applications key or right click it, and select Run As Administrator. Then you can follow my previous steps.
But if you don’t use the command prompt, you don’t need to worry about it.
All the best

Top 5 audio enhancers for Windows 10
Cristóbal
Hello list, Was wondering if anyone’s used any of these sound utilities and whether they found them to be accessible and actually do in fact increase or enhance sound quality? Be it audio in general (in my case a laptop) or even if there’s any positive impact for a screen reader (for me Jaws with eloquence). I thought I’d ask first in case someone’s already put them through their paces and can offer an opinion and hopefully help avoid having to install and uninstall application after application. Link to the article covering each one is also below. Applications in question are: 1. DFX Audio Enhancer 2. Breakaway Audio Enhancer 3. Bongiovi DPS for Windows 10 4. SoundPimp Audio Enhancer 5. Fidelizer Audio Enhancer http://windowsreport.com/best-audio-enhancers-windows-10/ Thanks, Cristobal

Here's the solution to your problem:- Go into a command line. Press Alt-Space then down to Properties. In there, make sure that Legacy Console is ticked. Now JAWS should be happier about reading the command line. Good luck. All the best Steve -----Original Message-----

Some time ago, probably a few months ago, Jaws stopped reading new output as it appears in the window. I can still get the current line by pressing Insert+8, or I can switch to Jaws cursor and read all the contents, but that's pretty inefficient, since I'd have to do it for every command that I type. Is this a bug in Jaws or is there a magic checkbox in Jaws settings that I need to check to make it to work? I know there is one workaround for this: turning one "Use legacy console" checkbox in command prompt options solves the issue. That's what I have been using so far, but now I need to use a program that requires the new console. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thank you Tony |

jaws saying blank when reading lines in word2016
mike mcglashon
Hi guys: I just obtained a new computer, A del inspiron 15-5570 model with win 10 and jaws 2018 and word2016. When I arrow down through a doc, Jaws says blank even before it even reads what is on the line, So it says something like this: “”blank” heading 1 bla blab la”. It says blank regardless if the line is truly blank, Or whether the line has data?
Any ideas

Usually space or enter should do the trick just like you can activate a regular link or button with space or enter, but some websites may have used unconventional code where this may not work.

What is the correct way to select a tab on a web page?
For example, on the Google voice website on their page, when in settings, it might say: Calls tab, Groups and circles tab, Voicemail and text settings tab, etc. How does one select one of these tabs on a particular web page? Is it with space, or is it Enter, or some other keystroke?
Thank you.
