I have a Logitech K360 keyboard, and the FN key does indeed have some functionality with the Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys. I found out what the functions were by going into JAWS help (JAWS Key plus 1) and then pressing the key combinations. On my keyboard FN with Page Up activates the Applications key, for example.

Actually the only way I can let you guys see the information is if I give somebody the logon information because it’s a paid subscription service.

That set-up would seem ideal in my mind. In most situations, I use
multi-media keys routinely with f9 raising volume, f10 lowering it and f11
to mute/unmute.
Occasionally, I have a need to use f11 to turn a browser into full screen
mode.
Now, I have to arrow down to do this; it would be nice to have a toggle
such as that of a gaming kb as a part of a regular kb.

Currently, even though picture smart is an external service, and is not installed, the picture smart folder in your pictures library is still created. But if you put a picture in there it will act like a normal folder and there will be no description of the picture you put in there.

Freedom Scientific decided to remove the option to disable Sharky.
So if you want to disable it, you'll have to create an
AdditionalSettings.ini file and put it in the same folder where you run the JAWS installer from.

If a Lenovo the "FN" key and "ESC" key will toggle this setting off or on. Drove me crazy for a bit when I first got my Lenovo. Other models have similar means however some are more complicated.

I posted on a Facebook group, and I was told to do the function key plus escape, and I’ve tried that and it still is the same way. Is JAWS supposed to say anything when I perform that action of function key plus escape? Usually I’m pretty tech savvy, but this not being able to do insert plus F7 for the links list is kind of baffling right now. I know I can use the Hey Sharky feature and have it pull up links that way, but still, I’d like to have the normal key command work. Thanks.

With JAWS set to run from the System Tray, the JAWS window is accessed easily, by pressing INSERT+J, when you are using the JAWS Desktop keyboard layour or, CTRL+SHIFT+CAPS LOCK+J, when you are using the JAWS laptop keyboard layout.

When JAWS is not set to run in the System Tray, there is always an open window, when you cycle through the open programs, when you use ALT+TAB.

 

 When JAWS is set to run in the System Tray, the JAWS window is hidden.

If you don't run Jaws from the system tray this is normal, but if you do run Jaws from the system tray it is not. 

 

If you have Jaws set to run from the system tray try unloading Jaws and reloading, now see if you can access the menues by arrowing after pressing, Insert + J.

I must have something set up differently. I can press insert plus j and it brings up the jaws window and reads the current version, like it would as a heading. It won’t let me get to the menus this way unless I press alt h. Is there a setting I need to change in Jaws?

You should be able to go to the about JAWS dialog and it will tell you how many upgrades you have left.

1. insert+J to open the JAWS context menu 2. press up arrow two time to get to the about option 3. press enter 4. press insert+alt+W to virtualize the dialog, this makes it easy to browse what it says.
or you could switch to the JAWS cursor by pressing the numeric keypad - key.

I know I asked about this as part of a different topic a couple of weeks ago but your suggestion made me curious. I have a Lenovo laptop and the f1-12 keys work normally but my insert key says insert on it but when I press it Jaws says "alt windows q,"; it's done this since I got this laptop a little over 2 years ago even before I switched my keyboard layout to laptop. The key to the left of my insert key doesn't work right either but since I don't know what the key is I'm not as worried about it working. I know that the caps lock key is my insert key but as I have an actual insert key it'd be really nice to be able to use it. I followed Glenn's instructions for changing it in the Jaws keyboard manager but that didn't work, any idea if this methoid would fix this issue? Sorry but I'm not brave enough to simply try something without knowing whether or not it'll work first.

This is a longshot, but I wonder about your virtual cursor options settings in the JAWS quick settings dialog.

 

Press JAWS key-v

The first group that should appear is “virtual cursor options”

Down-arrow to the setting that is either:

 

select and copy full content using screen highlight

or

from virtual cursor

 

It’s a toggle, so either one of these lines will be verbalized.

Whichever one it is, press spacebar to set the alternative and see if that makes a difference when selecting a webpage column.

This is exactly what I did, however,

It not only copies the column I want, but,

It also copies the corresponding rows as well.

It can be a nightmare to go back and edit all the unwanted columns out of the pasted data.

So, it does not only copy the contents of one specific column.

 

Not only that,

If I first go into table-layer with insert-space ant T,

And then set a placemarker,

It still copies entire rows, not just the desired column.

 

I will play with it a bit later on as I must go and move out of my old apartment.

 

Please advise as you like.

Use two documents, and then paste the material into the first document, then copy and paste it into your outline.

The reason for me doing this is that,

After I paste the column into word or notepad,

I then have constructed an outline of topics and subtopics already set.

Because the topics and subtopics are all located within a particular column.
