In newer versions of Edge, control+H takes you to a history dialog, I always hit 'B' to go to the first button in the dialog then hit enter, then you are taken to the history page in a tab that will close with control+W.
There used to be a setting that disabled that dialog so you went straight to the history page, but apparently Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, disabled it.
They put that same stupid dialog in front of the favorites manager. I hate both of them and wish there was a way to get rid of them.
Control+P takes you to a preview of what you are going to print, if you want to bypass that and just go to the system print dialog, hit control+shift+P instead.

On the rare occasions it does, holding down the Fn key and hitting the needed function key on that row makes it act as a standard function key rather than a media key. There are a few makers, Lenovo being one of them, that allows the media key function to be toggled on/off within Windows using a utility they supply. Most, however, require the media keys/action keys/whatever the given manufacturer calls them to be toggled off in UEFI/BIOS, which requires sighted assistance since there is no screen reader support before the operating system loads. --

When I go to a Webpage, I cannot seem to activate the links list with

the different keyboard layouts. And I was told that I could hold down the
function key and then hit escape and that would switch the way the function keys
work, but I’ve tried that and still nothing. Is JAWS supposed to say something
when you do that Function+Escape command? I know that I could pull up the links

Hello. So I got a new computer with Windows 11, so I have been trying to figure out the layout of the new laptop and all of that. And I’ve noticed that when I’m on a webpage and I want to hit insert plus F7 to go to a links list, it doesn’t work, same with insert plus F4 to unload JAWS (Not that I would ever actually want to do that, but I was just trying to mess around with it). It’s like my function keys aren’t working in the way that I need them to. Like for example, I believe it is my F5 key that functions as a mute button right now, but I don’t want that, I want them to just function as regular F one through F 12 keys. I posted on a Facebook group, and I was told to do the function key plus escape, and I’ve tried that and it still is the same way. Is JAWS supposed to say anything when I perform that action of function key plus escape? Usually I’m pretty tech savvy, but this not being able to do insert plus F7 for the links list is kind of baffling right now. I know I can use the Hey Sharky feature and have it pull up links that way, but still, I’d like to have the normal key command work. Thanks.

Re: Reminder on adding contact in Outlook groups
Michael, the easiest way that I have found to do that is to make an email template with all of the people in the two or the C C field. Fill out all of the rest of it and then when you put the student notes in there all you have to do is bring up that one template fill in the date and the information about the class and send it and it will send it to everybody. cursor off. You now should be on the, General tab. Every time you
down arrow to another tab the virtual cursor will turn itself on, so down
arrow and press, Insert + Z, to turn the virtual cursor off, but if you want
to tab through any particular tab leave the virtual cursor on to make any
changes to your settings.
3. So, in short, turn the virtual cursor off to navigate
between tabs and leave the virtual cursor turned on to navigate within the
tabs to make settings changes. All the settings are either checkboxes or
comboboxes.

I tried NVDA to navigate the Waterfox Options

luck.
Any ideas how to do this?

Hi Dave,
To be totally honest, navigating the Waterfox menues
with Jaws is a total pain in the A**! You have to constantly toggle
the virtual cursor on / off because if you tell the virtual cursor to stay
turned off for all applications, it doesn't. At least this is my
experience. When I want to change any settings in the Waterfox
menues I use NVDA and it navigates the menues flawlessly.

If you are in the favorites manager, first letter navigation may not work, I have never tried it there.
Personally I still wish Microsoft would resurrect Internet Explorer, that was in my humble opinion the best browser.

Hi list,
I came back from a trip last night and when I turned on my computer I was able to log in with Jaws like normal but then a screen came up for windows 11 upgrade. I only know this as I had a friend looking at through face time, but even with their help I could not get past it and just had a frend stop by and do it for me. Has anyone else encountered this and how do I go about fully declining the upgrade so this doesn’t happen again? Thanks so much

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for Microsoft Edge.
There is no check for updates specifically, but you can force Edge to update itself if an update is available by going into settings and the to the about screen.
