Hi Karen!
You should be able to go to the about JAWS dialog and it will tell you how many upgrades you have left.
1. insert+J to open the JAWS context menu 2. press up arrow two time to get to the about option 3. press enter 4. press insert+alt+W to virtualize the dialog, this makes it easy to browse what it says. or you could switch to the JAWS cursor by pressing the numeric keypad - key.

Yes, start a new email fill out all of the form that will be constant. Then hit your F 12 K set a name for it, tab down to file type and down arrow once then up arrow twice. It tends to work better that way I don’t know why. He will be
on in outlook message template save it wherever you’d like and when you go back in all you have to do is fill in the information that is specific to that next email.Â
So if you had an invoice, you could leave the to field blank put your email in the C C field fill out the subject line as much as possible and the message body as much as possible that way when you go back all
you have to do is put who it’s two and then the pertinent information for each one of your invoices most of the work is done it’s just customizing it that you’ll need to do each time you go in.

Michael, the easiest way that I have found to do that is to make an email template with all of the people in the two or the C C field. Fill out all of the rest of it and then when you put the student notes in
there all you have to do is bring up that one template fill in the date and the information about the class and send it and it will send it to everybody. If you need any help just let me know and I will give you my contact information.

Hello all,
I hope everybody is enjoying their Friday so far.
The purpose of sending this email to you just to want to ask y’all a question.
I started working and my job is to tutor students how to use various Assistive Technologies include how to use a PC with Jaws connected to a Braille display. Â One of the tasks that I must do in my work is to send out progress note of that
student via group email every time when I finish helping a student so this way my other co-workers can continue with the lesson that I started. Well, for some reason I kind of forgot how to put the contacts that I have created into a group in Outlook. Do any
of you know the instructions how to do that? I tried various ways to do it, but they are all invalid.
Please help if you know the commands
Best regards

Hello. So I got a new computer with Windows 11, so I have been trying to figure out the layout of the new laptop and all of that. And I’ve noticed that when I’m on a webpage and I want to hit insert plus F7 to go to a links list, it doesn’t work, same with insert plus F4 to unload JAWS (Not that I would ever actually want to do that, but I was just trying to mess around with it). It’s like my function keys aren’t working in the way that I need them to. Like for example, I believe it is my F5 key that functions as a mute button right now, but I don’t want that, I want them to just function as regular F one through F 12 keys. I posted on a Facebook group, and I was told to do the function key plus escape, and I’ve tried that and it still is the same way. Is JAWS supposed to say anything when I perform that action of function key plus escape? Usually I’m pretty tech savvy, but this not being able to do insert plus F7 for the links list is kind of baffling right now. I know I can use the Hey Sharky feature and have it pull up links that way, but still, I’d like to have the normal key command work. Thanks.

In newer versions of Edge, control+H takes you to a history dialog, I always hit 'B' to go to the first button in the dialog then hit enter, then you are taken to the history page in a tab that will close with control+W.
There used to be a setting that disabled that dialog so you went straight to the history page, but apparently Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, disabled it.
They put that same stupid dialog in front of the favorites manager. I hate both of them and wish there was a way to get rid of them.
Control+P takes you to a preview of what you are going to print, if you want to bypass that and just go to the system print dialog, hit control+shift+P instead.

Re: What is the new keyboard layout
On most laptops the FN key is usually in the bottom row on the left side between the control and Windows keys, thought it can be between the Windows and alt keys. It really depends on the brand and model of your laptop because it seems that everyone has their own ideas where some keys should go, even between models of the same brand.

You will need someone with sight, to go into the BIOS, and change the setting there. Once changed, the setting will remain. However, if the back up battery runs out, this setting, along with many others, will be lost, until you replace the battery, and get someone to reset the BIOS settings.

There are a few makers, Lenovo being one of them, that allows the media key function to be toggled on/off within Windows using a utility they supply. Most, however, require the media keys/action keys/whatever the given manufacturer calls them to be toggled off in UEFI/BIOS, which requires sighted assistance since there is no screen reader support before the operating system loads. --

Re: Function keys and trying to change the way they operate with JAWS
Hello taylor,
On Lenovo laptops the fn and esc keys will toggle the function keys between function keys and multimedia keys. On other laptops some require the fn key and shift key to lock the function keys into function mode so they will perform as function keys. On other laptops you have to go into the bios and change the setting for how function keys perform. There will either be a check box that has to be unchecked or a way of toggleing between enabled or disabled and possibly a couple of other methods depending on the laptop model and how the function keys are addressed in the bios. This will require sighted assistance as the bios does not have speech capabilities and the setting you are looking for is usually found under the advanced options.
I hope this helps.

Re: Function keys and trying to change the way they operate with JAWS
Hi Taylor, It sounds like somehow your function key has been permanently pressed. I'm not sure how to unpress it. I know that the keys you are describing is similar to what mine does when I press and hold down that key. On my laptop it is between the control and windows keys.
I got a sighted person to read what those keys do when I press the function key, then I wrote them in a list and which key they go with.

Thanks.
