Re: What is the new keyboard layout
Gene Warner
The problem I have with that is that those buttons on my laptop are designed into the touch pad and are difficult to find without touching the touch pad which of course moves the mouse pointer which causes the buttons to act on something else on the screen. If I could disable the touch pad without disabling the buttons I would, but if I disable the touch pad the buttons get disabled too. So I'm stuck with shift+F10.

They're just so much more reliable than any emulation and are easily accessible with your thumbs or any other finger you prefer. All of my students are taught this because it makes their lives so much easier if they're routinely using a laptop. Quoting: Set the placemarkers as described. Use control windows k to create a temporary placemarker. Do this at the start of where you want to select, then navigate down to where the end of your selection is going to be, so to the end of where you want to select. Use insert spacebar, then the letter m. You should here selecting between marked place and current position. Then copy, and paste into your document. End quote:
This is exactly what I did, however, It not only copies the column I want, but, It also copies the corresponding rows as well. It can be a nightmare to go back and edit all the unwanted columns out of the pasted data. So, it does not only copy the contents of one specific column.
Not only that, If I first go into table-layer with insert-space ant T, And then set a placemarker, It still copies entire rows, not just the desired column.
I will play with it a bit later on as I must go and move out of my old apartment.

Hi guys:
If I am on a webpage and I wish to select a column of text from within a table, And then paste it into word or notepad but not as a column in a table, How do I do this? Using jaws 2022? I think the browser is chrome if that helps?
The reason for me doing this is that, After I paste the column into word or notepad, I then have constructed an outline of topics and subtopics already set. Because the topics and subtopics are all located within a particular column.
Please advise as you like.

Mike,
Are there table commands for selecting a column in
a browser?
In word and other word processors, you can select
rows and columns with shift + space or control + space.
In Edge, Jaws can give program specific help with
commonly used shortcuts with insert W, but this only seems to be a feature for
Jaws with Microsoft products, but what works in Edge will probably work in other
browsers.

Are you familiar with placemarkers? Set a placemarker at the beginning of the column with control-windows key-k. locate the end of the column and press JAWS key-spacebar followed by m to complete the selection. Then press control-c to copy and proceed from there.
Since we don’t have the document, I can’t be sure that only that column will be selected. You may need to copy the entire document into a new file and play with it. But the placemarkers will ultimately give you what you need.

I need to correct myself here. Apparently in the last JAWS update, Freedom Scientific decided to remove the option to disable Sharky. So if you want to disable it, you'll have to create an AdditionalSettings.ini file and put it in the same folder where you run the JAWS installer from.
