Re: End Insertion/Insertion
Cohn, Jonathan
While this might happen in some places, this sounds like a new JAWS feature related to tracking changes in documents. One place you might see this is on a shopping site where the price is listed as 12.99 and then crossed out and a 8.99 price is glowing in your face. There is a rather new feature in HTML to indicate that.
I would expect that the JAWS features provided in Microsoft Word for reading with track changes should also control this on web pages, but I don't remember the details.

Can you please provide more information about your system? Are you really using Outlook Express, or is it Outlook? And if it is Outlook, what version (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 221 or 365, or from Outlook.com)? And what version of Windows? If it is Outlook and Windows 10/11, you can reach the "Create Rule" dialog by pressing AltH, R, R, U. Or you can reach the Rules & Alerts manager with Alt+R, R, L. In Outlook 2021 this can be found on the File tab. Rod Macdonald

help with jaws and a filter.
Joseph Machise
Hi,
I'm using Jaws insert version number, and I'm trying to make a filter in outlook express. I don't know if I forgot the steps and I'm missing something, or if it is my Jaws. Could someone post the steps for making a filter? How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. You might have to select the link, then copy it to the clipboard, then paste it into your browser.

The other thing you can do, Madison, instead of attaching the pdf file, is, if the pdf file is on a website, send the person the link to the file, instead of attaching the file itself to the e-mail.

Hi all, I’m trying to send something to a friend of mine that was sent to me as a PDF (I figured it would be) but when I go to attach the file it’s not showing up in the list of recently viewed files even though I’ve looked at it; it opens in Edge. So can someone please tell me how to attach this file so I can send it to my friend? I know how to attach a file but I’ve never sent a PDF to someone or at least not one that opens in Edge. Really hope someone can help me as I really want to get her feedback!! Using latest versions of Edge, Jaws, Microsoft 365 and Windows 11. Madison

How do I activate a link in a book in Kindle for PC
Richard B. McDonald
Hi!
I am using JAWS 2020 under Windows 10. I am reading a book in Kindle for PC. Periodically, I run across a link within the text. How do I activate these links? If it were a webpage, I would press enter on the link, or press the spacebar on the link or even press the applications key on the link. None of these work on a link in a book in Kindle for PC.
Thanks, Richard

Hi Bill:
Another way to do this is to invoke the Print function and select Microsoft to PDF as your printer.

Hi, Curtis and Madison. I have found that, with many pdf files, there is no download button, and the page wants to save as an html document. The only way I have found to get around this is to set Microsoft Edge so that, instead of viewing the file in Edge, it downloads the file when you click on the pdf link.

Madison:
You must first save the PDF somewhere on your computer’s hard drive. If it opens up in Edge, you may find a Download button near the top of the first page. Or, try pressing Control S to see if the Save dialog wants to save the file as a PDF.
Cordially,

Re: trouble attaching a PDF

Hi, Madison. The first thing you want to do is to locate the pdf file on your drive. Once you have done that, copy the file, not the file contents, to the clipboard with CONTROL plus C. In other words, don't open the file, just copy it to the clipboard, once you have Arrowed to it.
Once this has been done, Open Outlook, and start a new message to the recipient. Once you are in the body of the message, and have typed the message, press ENTER at the end of the message, so there is a blank line at the end of your message.
Find the blank line at the end of your message, then use CONTROL plus V to paste the pdf file into the message. The file should now be attached to the E-mail message.

Hi Madison, When you open a pdf in edge it doesn’t mean you saved it. In order to send it to someone you might need to save it somewhere on your computer and then send it from there.

Madison,
First save the original document/PDF to somewhere on your desktop. You can then open it and it will be in your recently viewed files. Otherwise, once it is saved to your desktop or wherever in your laptop, then you can browse to that location or copy and
paste the file into the new email.

I seem to remember that you could set each rule to work for just that page, the entire site, or globally . I admit I played with Flexible Web when it was first introduced, but then turned it off, and that was quite a while ago so my memory might be questionable about it.

3270 scripts
Larry Thacker Jr.
Hello all. I’m new here.
soon I will be starting a job that requires me to work on a mainframe using a 3270 emulator. At this point I do not know which one it will be. I only hope it will work. At my previous employer, I had a script written for QWS3270 provided by a contractor who worked for the company, which I modified primarily to add a function to toggle on and off the reading of line numbers when moving through ISPF screens. That is the only feature I really care about. Unfortunately I was not able to get this code off of the well-protected company computer. I really do not want to have to spend time recreating this for my new job, which is paid by the hour. So, this is the ask. Does anyone have something similar that I could use as a template to shorten the time I will need to start doing real work efficiently.

Hello,
I updated JAWS to version 2022.2206.9 and now JAWS reads a web app the following way.
End Insertion then the link on the page – insertion
I am guessing that these are tags on the page. I am not sure why this is reading this way, but it did not do this in the previous build of version 2022. This also only reads in this specific section of the page. Does anyone know how I can stop Jaws from saying end insertion and insertion?
Thanks,
