Re: Jaws reporting checked after list items and on desktop
Artur Räpp
Hi,
I hope you can fix it if you: Open a folder. For example documents folder. Press ALT key and move with right arrow to View menu, press spacebar. Move with up or down arrow to show. It is in the end of the menu, open it with Enter Move with down arrow to Item check boxes , press Enter
Hope this helps Artur From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of

Hi there, I just got a new work laptop today, gone from an HP to a Lenovo.
After some time to set things up I have noticed that when on the desktop Jaws reports on each icon like Word checked and excel checked etc. Also in the documents folder after each item Jaws reports checked. The sighted I T person could not provide any insights. The only thing I can think of is that the laptop does have one of those touch screens that operates with a pen. The screen has been disabled.
I guess the highlight as I move through each item may contain an element that Jaws is reporting as checked.
I am using Jaws22 with Windows 10 Enterprise.
Any advice would be most welcome
With thanks Murray

Jaws volume rising and dipping
Murray Peat <murraytp@...>
Hi there, Sorry, one more question. With my new Lenovo laptop I am finding that the Jaws volume rises and falls of its own accord. Sometimes this happens while working with a specific programme however mostly it happens if I open something new or move to another task. I guess this may be a sound card issue. Has anyone else come across this and perhaps knows how to resolve it?
I am using Jaws22 on Windows 10 Enterprise

JAWS jumps to calendar when trying to open emails in a thread in gmail standard view
Rahul Bajaj
hi,
I use JAWS 2021, Gmail standard view, Chrome and Edge. Let us say there is a thread with 5 emails. at any given time, typically, only 1 or 2 of those mails are open, rest are collapsed. When I press enter or space on the sender's name or the date of those collapsed emails, instead of expanding them, JAWS jumps to the calendar. And it starts telling me what my appointments for today are. How can I fix this? help with a Kobo Ebook reader
Jeff Lukacsena <jlukacsena@...>
Hello List, I purchased an ebook version of a textbook I need for graduate school on kobo. It mentions to download an app either for your desktop or iphone. I picked the desktop. After I ran the installion it seems to open the app, but the screen seems to be blank. I am wondering if this not accessible. I wonder if I can convert the book into another format, or should I get my money back and purchase the book in ebook format somewhere else. I’m running Jaws 2022 July edition and Windows 11. Thanks, Jeff Lukacsena

Picture Smart is a feature in JAWS, when you send it a picture it will use several services that attempt to describe what is in the picture. Usually it works reasonably well, but sometimes it wanders off into left field.

You get to it with Insert+Space,P then there a number of options to give it the picture to recognize. You can use insert+space,P,? to get help about it. Gene...

editing and commenting in share point
Cynthia Bruce
Hi Folks,
I am part of a working/advisory group, ironically on accessibility, and I am struggling with the documents in share point. It seems like I can see comments but not what they apply to, or I can read the document text and know there is a comment without being able to see what the comment says. Has anyone had better luck than I with this? I am using JAWS 2021 and the current version of office 365.
Thanks for any help,
Cynthia |

Calendar in Outlook
kevin meyers <kman2020@...>
Hello, I’m using most recent windows10, Outlook 2016 and Jaws 2022. For some reason out of the clear blue, the order of an appointment has switched around. It now says day view, one total event and then the description. Before it read description, location, time and date. I went into view and the settings and then columns. There was nothing to set the order like what I can do to an email. I talked to Microsoft Accessibility and they said there is nothing I can do at this time. I would have to leave feedback and maybe it would be taken care of in a future update. Has anyone experienced this issue? Cheers, Kevin

thanks, all. i think i have been able to sort this out. documents that are mailed to me using sharepoint are now opening in office applications on my computer. and for folders that are shared with me via email, i go to them on sharepoint and open the relevant file in the relevant office application by right clicking it. warmly, rahul On Mon, 1 Aug 2022 at 21:26, David Kingsbury <davidkingsbury77@...> wrote:

Just as a reality check I went back and tried again, although JAWS identifies the graphic as a graphic, using the 'G' key does not see it, navigation skips right over it.

I then tried Picture Smart's 'C' option and it worked! I must have done something wrong before, my apologies. Thanks! Gene...

Re: using office online in chrome with jaws
David Kingsbury
Hi Rahul , The folks at Freedom Scientific strongly discourage using the online version of Office, only the desktop version. Among other things, I have found Excel to be completely inaccessible. I haven’t played around with the online version enough to see what else goes wrong, but you really must insist with your I T people to install the desktop version. As others have said, this certainly can be considered a reasonable accommodation. With regard to OneDrive, your I T people can set up your OneDrive account so that you can access the OneDrive folder from within your user folder. You can then save files there and manage them from within the familiar Windows desktop environment. It should take them less than 5 minutes to set that up, and all files and folders will be synced online. David |

How are you invoking Picture Smart? Is the graphic showing up as something you can jump to using the JAWS shortcut G? If it is, have you tried INSERT+SPACE followed by p followed by c? Cordially, Curtis Chong

I subscribe to the post office's informed delivery service, this service sends you a daily email with information about mail and packages that will be arriving soon. In the email are scanned images of mail that is coming to you. I send these to Picture Smart to find out what's coming and it works great. Now here is my question: Currently I have to copy the image to the clipboard then send the image in the clipboard to Picture Smart, a two step process. I have tried using other methods to do it in one step but so far haven't figured out anything that works. Any ideas? I am using 64 bit Thunderbird as my email client and JAWS 2022 July update on Windows 10 21H2. Thanks! Gene... |
