No, and I'm glad of it too.

The trouble with screen curtains is if your device crashes and the screen doesn't come on, you can't get sighted help.

The only way I have found to get to my attachments in Outlook is to hit enter when I am in the message list.  This opens the email in full, not just a preview.  At this point I Shift-tab once and the focus moves from the message body to the attachment list.

I am not entirely sure if this is a JAWS issue, but in the last couple of days, I can’t seem to navigate to attachments in Outlook. I know they are there because JAWS tells me there are attachments when I am scrolling through my messages. However, when I back space or use insert A to get to the attachments, JAWS tells me there are no attachments.

I am using JAWS 2021, the latest version I believe, and the most current version of Outlook.

It’s that when Chrome opens, JAWS doesn’t notice that it has gained focus. I don’t know the reason for it.

i don't think JAWS + Z does it. I'm sure I would have tired it before restarting JAWS.  Does anyone have a theory of what possibly is going on?  Is JAWS not creating a virtual buffer for the html in Chrome?  I think when it broke with Chrome it also broke with Firefox for me.

Turn your virtual curse on and off. Done by using insert Z and this will resolve the issue. I agree this looks like a jaws issue



I guess I am in good company!  Sorry I don't really have a good fix though.

It's happening to me right now.  JAWS + T reads the title of the page.  Num pad and plus comes back as PC cursor. Alt + Tab does nothing.  Reloading the page does nothing. Restarting JAWS worked.

        Good to know, but that leaves the question as to whether the changes would be temporary or not, which was one of the things I was focusing on from the original question.

         It's still really handy to know there's a more direct way to get to verbosity settings, but I suspect any changes made would remain in effect even if you were to exit from JAWS and start it up again.  The other increase/decrease temporarily options vanish, and you go back to whatever you had set as your defaults, when you exit and restart JAWS.

My Lenovo laptop says it’s okay to get Windows 11.

I am wondering if I will need to upgrade my Jaws to run with Windows 11? What version will I need?

Hi, Justin. It's in one of two places. First it's in the JAWS Startup Wizard, under Help.

Secondly, it is in Quick Settings (JAWS key plus V). When the search box opens, after you press JAWS key plus V, enter the word smart, and Smart Reading will come up in the search. If it is checked, try unchecking it, and see if that makes a difference in how you can navigate with the arrow keys. Make sure to TAB to the OK button to save the changes.

Where is smart word reading?

Check to see if Smart Word reading is on. If it is, try turning it off.

I have Jaws 2021, and windows 10. Office 2016

I've noticed, that when I read by word in Microsoft word, that JAWS sometimes doesn't read.

The cursor will move, but it will not say anything.

When I read Character  by Character it works fine.

Why is that?
