Re: epub books and what to use to read them

Crystobal, I just wanted to let you know that you can highlight, insert notes, and even copy text in the Kindle for PC app.
Select the text you want to manipulate like you normally would. Hit Control c as if you were copying. It takes you into a dialog where you can highlight, insert a note or press a button for copying text. If you copy text, it gives you the author, title, and page number for bibliographical information as well.

Re: partition managers?

If by Partition Assistant you mean Aomei Partition Assistant, I tried that program and found the current version totally unusable. On top of that, the free version will not transfer partitions that contain an operating system. I ended up using Macrorit Partition Expert and got help from Aira to use it.

Re: using office online in chrome with jaws

Hello Rahul:
From the perspective of a blind user running JAWS, it is not the most efficient use of your time to use the web interface to Office. It is a reasonable accommodation for your employer to install Microsoft 365 on to your work system. If you need additional information to justify a request of this nature, I am sure people on this list would be more than happy to supply you with the information you need.
Cordially,
Curtis Chong

Hi All,
My current firm uses Office Online a great deal for their work. I find that my existing tech skills are not enough to help me navigate this platform effectively. I am also unable to open in the One Drive desktop app documents that are opened in Office Online.
Any guidance on the above or leads for using Office Online would be greatly appreciated.
Warmly, Rahul

Soon, I am likely to get Spectrum cable Internet in California (Rancho Cucamonga). I would probably have this same issue. Could you please reply with the link to the Spectrum website where they list compatible routers?
Thanks! Richard

Hi Dave, We have that same issue with the router that came with Spectrum. The tech who came out suggested the Asus router that they list will work on their website with their equipment. You might want to find out which routers work with their equipment and then find out which one is accessible.

I forgot to mention, The EE router, does have a web interface but, as I said before, there are buttons which are not standard HTML buttons, which is why JAWS will not recognize them.

Not enough people do. Not ragging on anyone but I swear the traffic on these sortso f lists would be cut in at least half if people actually read docs. Though of course, the quality fo documentation does vary. BTW I spelled "calibre" wrong in my initial post -- it's "r e " at the end and not "e r".

I use QRead too sometimes, but I don't think it's all that good. Mostly thought aht's because I want to read books on my braille display, and there just aren't any encoding options for file conversion. I don’t' think the developer is updating it anymore. But there's no particular reason to create a version specifically for Windows 11, is there? Windows software is usually compatible across operating systems, with very few exceptions, and these are mostly because of technology like DirectX. I'm still using software here that I used on Windows XP with no problems,a nd that's how Windows is designed to work.

In a word, not on its own, but you can install a plugin to do this. Probably not a good topic for the list, but: https://www.techradar.com/news/software/how-to-remove-ebook-drm-with-calibre-1291960 I have not had great experiences with Calibre main programme and jAWS, but there is an add-on for nVDA. The conversion can be done from the command line, but I'm not sure about importing the plugin. There might be a way. I'll see if I can find anything int eh documentation.
