Jessica, Not sure if you have gotten a reply on this.
In terms of reminders, you can arrow through the list and either tab to a snooze or dismiss button. I also thing Alt D is the shortcut to dismiss a reminder. I also sometimes just hit escape to remove the reminder window temporarily.
For threading, Outlook by default arranges messages in groups. I think you need to turn that off first. Go to the View ribbon and to the Arrange By button. Alt arrow down to open the list and arrow down to Show in Groups and hit enter to uncheck that option. Once you have done that. Go back to the View ribbon and to the Show in conversations button, and press enter on that. You should now be in threads.

What can I do?

Re: issue with installing JAWS on windows 10. The JAWS Install has failed.
Ann Byrne
Have you completely uninstalled JAWS? First using either the JAWS uninstall or programs and features? then go to users\yourname\appdata, and delete the freedom scientific components from roaming and local ... or whatever those folders are. if you don't remove those, there are still old JAWS settings that can get in the way.
appdata is a hidden folder, so you have to go to c:\users\yourname\ and type in appdata. Good luck!

Re: Notifications in Outlook2016
New Mail Alerts are also created by Outlook, at least from Outlook 2010 onward, though which versions have it on versus off by default I cannot say.
I can say that if you open Outlook help, and search on "new mail alert" you will get step by step instructions for configuring all aspects of that feature, including turning it off entirely. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

Re: reading email in WLM
Mario,
Under Windows Live Mail 2012, you do not want to use the Compact View as it makes the folder tree "odd," to put it mildly. I recommend using the One-Line View for the Message View and you can have the reading pane either off entirely or at the bottom, as you'll generally be hitting Enter to open an individual message in its own window. I can't answer the left click bit, as I've not seen that particular quirk. Microsoft has consistently used the terminology "conversation view" for what a lot of the rest of the world calls "threaded view. So, when you're in the View Ribbon, under Conversations turn it on if you want threaded view, or off if you want individual messages, unthreaded. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

reading email in WLM
Mario
other than using Thunderbird, I also have Windows Live Mail configured
to get my email just in case Thunderbird decides to misbehave. but: 1. the message view is not set to compact. is this the correct view to have? 2. if I press enter on an email, it does open but JAWS does not want to read it unless I left click it. what do I have to do to get JAWS to read after opening without having to left click (numpad / without the numlock on)? 3. how do I sort the messages by thread instead of unthreaded? if someone responds to someone's question, I want the replies to be grouped together and in ascending order instead of hunting for each message that contributes to the thread.

While Jaws 18 is up and running, go to the FS website and download Jaws 2018 for your system, 64 bit or 32 bit. Save the file to the desktop Now uninstall Jaws 18 including shared components, but leave the user settings After the system reboots, make sure you are on the desktop with Windows Key+M and press "J", you may want to start Narrator to do this until the Jaws installer starts speaking, once it does press Control+Windows Key+Enter to exit Narrator again. See if Jaws 2018 will install, just in case you might want to make sure you also download a Jaws 18 installer file and have it handy. If Jaws 2018 installs I personally would not bother putting Jaws 18 back, I don't see any advantage in using it over Jaws 2018 with Windows 10. In 2 months or less Jaws 2019 will come out, a public beta will probably come in the next couple of weeks if how things were in the last few years are an indication. Regards, Sieghard

Are you installing the
