I’ve seen that happen sometimes on one of my computers.  If I had to guess, it’s got something to do with how Jaws get’s the authorization.  Remember they’ve done something to try and get the program to start faster.  If I had to guess, your getting speech before the authorization is read.  I do know when your loading the demo it’s called Jaws professional so while I can’t be sure, it’s my guess.  One thing you can try is to select about jaws and see what it says after everything is loaded.

You can also hit control plus U to read the source code. I just do a control plus W to close when I’m finished.

Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I have not had the need to look at html source code in an extremely long time and now find the need again. I went to the view menu in Internet Explorer and entered on source and JAWS went silent. Am I doing something wrong? Can you not access the source code with JAWS in IE anymore? If not what is an alternative route to take.

Thanks

I love it. That way you don't have to navigate through folders to find what you want to attach.

Similarly, while in the list of attachments, you can copy an attachment's name and paste it into a folder, avoiding the whole save rigmarol.

Insert+a makes a list of attachments, and there is the option to open
Insert+or

Also, shift+tab often reaches the attachments list. Someone said
alt+f, then m to save all attachments.

To insert an attachment, copy the file name and paste it into the body

Re: Outlook, getting to the options for dealing with an attachment

You can shift tab to the attachment. You should hear JAWS "use alt down arrow to manage the attachments. Once you do that, you can do anything.
As far as adding an attachment, just do an h, a and then an f. Then browse to the attachment and press inter. If you want, you can even add that keystroke to the quick access toolbar.

Hello, everyone.

Today, I noticed a very strange problem with an Excel spreadsheet that I’m working with.

Typically, when I enter dates into the spreadsheet, I do the following:

For today:  I’d enter 10/15/2018.

This process has worked flawlessly for all dates except for today’s date.

When I enter today’s date as noted above, Jaws reads 15oct.

I even tried entering tomorrow’s date in the next row of the spreadsheet, and it went back to my preferred listing:  10/17/2018.

Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with the October 15th row and first spreadsheet cell for today?

I don’t understand why this particular row is acting so strangely.

I also don’t know how to correct the situation.

Thanks for any assistance.

The culprit is Automatic Language Switching, a desirable feature if you use foreign languages, and not if you do not. Press insert+6 from wherever the problem occurs to go into the Setting Center, type language into the search box, arrow down to automatic language switching, and turn it off. If you do not use any foreign languages, perhaps when you first land in the setting center, press shift+ctrl+d to go to the default settings file and make the change from there.

Re: Free Windows 10 update

Unless something has changed very recently, and I mean within the last 5 days or so, one can still do a free upgrade from Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10.

I have done several recently, using these instructions (but where the initial steps, up through kicking off setup.exe for Win10, occur from within whatever version of Windows you currently have and are trying to upgrade):

Doing an In-place "Upgrade" to Reinstall Windows 10 Keeping Apps/Programs and User Files (though you'll be installing, not reinstalling)
NOTE:  You do NOT need to follow the instruction regarding turning off Secure Boot.  It is superfluous.

Has been working like a charm for months now.

He uses Excel, Outlook, and Word primarily. The ribbon is in Excel 2010. He reports the column width is no longer in the context menu in Excel 2016.

What other applications do you or your employee need to use? If it's primarily Office then upgrading to Windows 10 is fine, it is very stabil and Office works well.
I know you mentioned he can't change the width of columns and so on, if he came from Excel 2010, are you sure he knows how to do it, if I remember correctly, didn't Excel 2010 still use menus or di dit have ribbon menus already?
If he has to use older applications and if he uses the Jaws cursor a lot there is a good chance he will lose that in Windows 10.

I will attempt an Office repair. As for Windows 10, do others find better Jaws 2018/Excel 2016(Office 365) stability under Windows 10 rather than Windows 7? Are there any adjustments that I can make in Jaws or Excel to make them work better under Windows 7?

Thank you,

Brian

I have reported it. They tell me to do an Office repair and/or move to Windows 10.

Contact FS, and report this. I also have issues with JAWS 2018 and Office 365. Mine are with Word. I cannot properly read information in tables, so I can see how this would transfer over to Excel.

Subject: Office 365 Excel 2016 and Jaws 2018 Issues

Hi List,

One of my executives is having quite a few issues with Jaws 2018 and Office 365 Excel 2016, the latest build of both under Windows 7. So much so that I have installed excel 2010 on his computer in order for him to get work done. He is reporting the following issues. Jaws becomes silent when saving files, formulas aren’t read to him, he will lose an hour of work randomly, he can’t widen columns, add new sheets, rename sheets, etc. All of these things and others I may not have mentioned he can do in Excel 2010. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Brian
