Re: How to get the old Alt Tab dialog in Windows 10 Back

Mike B. <mike9902@...>

Hi Dean,

The difference I'm finding after switching to the classic style is you get the desktop back.  What I mean is let's say you have Notepad, Word, Firefox,
& Dropbox all open, and you close all the mentioned windows.  With the default Windows 10 setting you land on an empty screen, so you have to invoke the Windows key
+ D, or M, keystroke to get back to the desktop.  Using the classic mode, after you close the previously mentioned windows you Alt + Tab and you're back
on the desktop.  Depending on individual settings this could be different, but this is the difference on my personal computer.  Now, I'm not going to debate
whether one is better than the other because whether I choose the Windows 10 default or the classic mode is  entirely my choice and noone elses.  Like
I said in the original post, the tweak was only mentioned because I've read many people wanting the Alt + Tab back to the desktop option back, and this
gives them that option.

Yup. You can also once on a highlighted application, access the context menu and go through the options of moving a program to another virtual desktop, have the same window appear on all desktops, etc.

Very helpful when you’re working with multiple desktops all the time like I do.

My understanding is that Windows+Tab gets you into the task view, you can also get to this by tabbing from the desktop or going to the taskbar with Windows Key+T and then doing a Shift+Tab.

If you have open applications then Windows+Tab will bring up a list of these applications, you can arrow left and right in that list and press enter to go to any of them which are listed.

Just now that I have Outlook open and I am composing this message if I press Windows+Tab I have two items in that list, one is the Inbox and one is this email which I am composing.

Office 2019

Edward Green

Hi all,

Does anyone know if either JAWS 2018 or JAWS 2019 Beta 2 work with Office 2019?

I realise that Office 2019 is really an incremental update if you are an Office 365 subscriber and have applied the updates to 2016 as I am and have, but wanted to double check before I go ahead and install as I only have one Windows PC.

It’s not clear to me from the Beta 2 features page whether it does or not.

Many thanks,

Hi, Brian. I think I have discovered what the announcement in JAWS about a popup is. I went to Barnes and Noble, and it told me that the link for “My Account” has a popup. I didn’t know how to get the site to show me the options, so I called Customer Service. They told me that it is a link which requires hovering over the item with the mouse. I tried using the Left Mouse button on the NumPad, and it opened up the items under “My Account”. Just clicking on the link itself didn’t open the options. So I think that “Has a popup” means that it is a hover link.

Subject: How to get the old Alt Tab dialog in Windows 10 Back

Hi All,

Running Windows 10 Pro and Jaws latest.  I came across this, tried it and it works as advertised.  I didn't do the registry hack personally, but downloaded the program and made the change with their program.  Here's the website to hear how it works and the download link & steps are below the website URL.

To download the program click on the link below, press the letter, B for button, then up arrow a few times to the download link.

Take care.  Mike.  Go Dodgers!

I bought the Synology DS918+ and for the most part did so because Jonathan Mosen wrote about Diskstation Manager being very accessible and that Synology does think this is important. I haven't done too much with it yet, but ti does seem pretty accessible from what I have seen so far.

I have the Iomega one, not to bad and not very expensive, but not very much memory only 250 MB.
The Synology are very nice, but very expensive!
If your needs are not very much, you may just want to get an SAN!

Hi Daan,

I use a device in the MyCloud series from Western Digital and it works well.

I don't know how it compares features-wise with the companies you mention, though my needs are relatively basic.

Cheers,

Ed

Hello,

I am currently using jaws 2018 and want to buy a NAS. Since
accessibility of the interface of the NAS is very important I send
this message to the group to ask if there is someone to help me to
choose the most accessible NAS system.

I read Synology is a good company that makes NAS systems with cool
features and a big app store. I am wondering if the interface of "disk
station" is accessible and also are the extra apps also accessible.

Are there other NAS systems like QNAP or Netgear also accessible?

Thanks
Regards
Daan

Hi Bill,

I just tried this in FireFox > Options and if I type for, example, “privacy” and press enter it seems to put me in application mode, if you get out of it by pressing the PC cursor a couple of times and then simply down arrow you should find the options/search results. Yes, it says “privacy, has popup”, but I don’t think this really means much.

I’m on the same version as yourself. I’m using JAWS 2018, and when I go to General, in Options, it says,

Find an option, has popup.

What version of Firefox?   I'm on 62.0.3.

When I open Options, and I'm using NVDA right now, it just announces "Unknown" when I'm in the search box, which is where you land by default, and I can tab out of it to items on the page.  If I return to that edit box it announces it has auto complete.  When I try to look for a frame I get that there are none.

I really can't explain why JAWS would be reporting a "Pop up" and I'm imagining that this might be how "has auto complete" is being reported for some odd reason.  There is definitely no pop up.  As you type characters into that search box what is displayed keeps getting more and more limited based on what you've entered (provided there's a match).  For example, as I type the first five letters of "language" the display keeps changing until the only thing I have is language options.  I can tab out of the search box to the Choose Language button and the checkbox related to spell checking.

Have yu tried the Jaws Mouseover keysroke, Jaws Key+Control+Enter? If you do that keystroke and you hear “change at line 23” where 23 is just a random number I picked as an example, then use “j”, the jump command” and type in 23 and press enter, then down arrow to see if the options are there.

Bill,

It just hit me that you said this was in Firefox Options.  If you can tell me how you're navigating to where the problem occurs, and what you're searching for, that would be helpful.
