Hi. I am using word 2016 office 365 and Windows 10 1709. I am having
a problem when I press any arrow key jaws says listbox before saying what the arrow key should say. This just started while reading a manual about jaws scripting. Any ideas on this would be appreciated. -- Your life is like a penny. You're going to lose it. The question is: How do you spend it? John Covici wb2una covici@...

joseph lee to speak on the next windows 10 feature update 1803 on accessible world march 26
Marvin Hunkin <neilmarvin@...>
Hi, joseph lee of the win 10 forum cluster will speak on http://www.accessibleworld.org and will demonstrate the insider final release candidate build of windows next feature update 1803. The windows insiders is where if you have a spare machine, can test new build and features of windows 10, or in a virtual machine, using vmware. A virtual machine, is a piece of software which emulates or replicates a physical os, and you can then install a guest os, inside your physical os. Vmware player is the most accessible vm to do this. So if you want to attend this, just spreading the word. Thanks.

Static problem has come back
kevin meyers
Hello, As some of you may know I had the static problem when Jaws speakes. I was able to stop this from occurring by disabling enhancements under the sound card. I just installed Duxbury software for sending text to my Braille printer. When in Duxbury the static was back. I went into word and it was static like it was before. Now it is not just when typing, it is all the time. I closed out of everything and rebooted. The static noise went away. I went into word and there was no static. I then went into Duxbury and the static came back. I checked enhancements under the sound card and it was still disabled. Now what? Is there something on the internet that gives ratings for sound cards?

I down arrow and Jaws reads the list and I can never get off it. It just keeps repeating the list. I then try to tab and the same thing happens. Do I need to do something to Internet Explorer? Or does Jaws need to have some option turned on or off?

Bill suggestion of turning off enhancements under the sound card settings eventually worked. I got frustrated and turned off the laptop. I came back the next day and there is no more static. Not sure why it had to sit over night before things were fixed.

A simple thing to check first is to clean the connection between your speakers and your computer. A static charge can build up there. Unplug your speakers from the back of the computer and wipe the plug off with connection cleaner if you have it or just wipe it off if you do not. Plug the speakers back into the same outlet and see if that takes care of it.

I turned off enhancements and it stopped the static. I rebooted and the static was back. I checked enhancements and it was off. I could not find sound affects under the sound card. Do you know where that is at under the sound card? Also ever once and a while it makes a clicking noise coming out of the left side of the laptop. I should also say the static only comes from letter keys and punctuation. The number keys on the top row or the numpad don’t create any static. Now what?

Hello, I just got a new Acer Inspire 5 laptop. I installed Jaws2018. Whenever I’m in MS word or Excel there is static when Jaws speaks. I should say it only occurs when I type. Freedom Scientific suggested I get the most recent version which came out today. It helped a little. They also suggested I change to echo by word and not character. I then checked the sound card drivers and they are all up to date. I did all of these things and it helped a little. I then shut the laptop down and came back a few hours later. Well the static was back and even worse. It now has a problem on the internet using Internet Explorer. It is so bad I can hardly make out what Jaws is reading on the internet. I wonder if Acer is just using cheap sound cards. I had an Acer a few months ago and they same thing happen. That is why I got this one and hoped the problem would not exist. Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers Kevin SonicWall identified this message as clean. To manage your junk mail go to https://nospam.envisionus.com and logon with your domain userid and password. Hi
Cristóbal,
I know exactly
what you mean, & how you & many others feel. I don't want to
mention the particular employees name because I don't want this person to lose
their job if it is indeed a mistake. But, I asked this person why others
sales people make this offer, & this person said because it all depends on
who you talk to to get this deal. So, I'm inclined to believe that it
might not be something that most will offer, but I just happened to catch the
right person at the right time, with the right situation. I upgraded a
person that is elderly, a low fixed income, & no way in hell of ever getting
upgraded if it wasn't for several things coming together, but most of all, this
offer I couldn't let pass!

I’m just skeptical in that it’s only one VFO person who said this where even the whisper of such a program hasn’t really been brought up before. Like I said, I’m more inclined to think that there may have been some misinformation given out by one rep, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong. I guess it can be an incentive to get more folks current so they and VFO can in turn get away from older OS’s like Vista and Windows 7, but on the other hand, if an upgrade is so cheap, where’s the incentive to stay current in the first place? I remember having to shell out around $440 to catch up on a two or three cycle upgrade back in the day. So yeah, that wasn’t fun.

As was mentioned in the original message, she was a Windows Eyes refugee. So who knows, maybe she just wasn’t’ up on her training.
