HI All,

I want to do my taxes myself.  What accessible online tools that can guide me on doing my taxes are out there?  I have simple tax needs right now so I thought I’d do them myself instead of paying someone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Hi again, Rosie. Maybe you are thinking of Outlook Express, which has not been updated for over 13 years. That one is definitely out of date, but it is different from Outlook.

Excellent suggestion.  And precisely what I would have done moments after logging in to that account and seeing nothing.

Email messages very seldom literally disappear into the ether.  If Gmail is not accepting them for a given account some sort of bounce message should come back.  If it doesn't, and the message never does show up, it's something Google should be informed of.

If the web interface is showing nothing since 4/17, then there's nothing since 4/17, and definitely nothing an e-mail client could pick up for download.

If the owner is virtually certain that this simply cannot be (and I have to believe it cannot be under any typical circumstances), then contacting Google tech support is the only option I can suggest.  And if they're blind, go the disability route, as it's easier to get a human being:

Hello again, Ms. Kirtley. I don't use Windows Mail. I use Outlook. Have you tried selecting all the messages, then use SHIFT plus DELETE, instead of just using DELETE? Often SHIFT plus DELETE is a permanent delete, and will sometimes work when DELETE alone won't work. Also, try using the context menu (Applications key, or SHIFT plus F10) and arrow down to see if there is a delete option when all messages are selected.

It certainly didn't for me.  And your actually having copied the Delta information precisely as sent has triggered a valuable conversation regarding how certain of Gmail's smart features work, and how to disable them if you so choose.

This was an unintended win-win.

You may not have looked at it, but you almost certainly got the message that started the topic, Question about converting table view into a text view.

Gmail scans all incoming messages, whether you've opened them or not, when these features are enabled and behaves accordingly.  I must admit that the probability of receiving something that triggered that sort of automatic event creation "by accident" is virtually zero.  This was an exception condition triggered by someone doing what I frequently beg people to do:  providing an actual example of what they're talking about.  This message would have been indistinguishable from the one sent to the original questioner as far as Gmail's scanning algorithm is concerned.
