Re: Will JAWS work with .ics calendar files?

The .ic file is already on my Outlook calendar. When I initially activated the link to save to calendar, that was where it went. I checked the Outlook calendar, and it was there. My question is this. The communion appointments are not shown on the respective dates. When I go to the dates on which I have to serve, the dates are all blank. Is this the way it is supposed to be, or am I doing something wrong?

Will JAWS work with .ics calendar files?
Rick Miller
Dear Listers:
I have just become a deacon at my church, and have just received an e-mail message giving the days on which I will be serving Communion. In it, there is an “add to calendar,” link. When I activate this link I get the option to save the dates in an .ics file. After I did this, I did not find the appointment on my Outlook calendar on the first Sunday I will serve. I have never saved an .ics calendar file before. Does such a file work with JAWS? If it does, how do you get JAWS to read the given appointment(s) in the file?

good free accessible tool to repair corrupted sql databases
Marvin Hunkin <neilmarvin@...>
Hi. Got sql server 2017, and sql management studio 2017.7, express 64 bit pro. Latest version. Windows 10 1803 64 bit pro and jaws 2018.1805.33 64 bit pro on a Toshiba satellite pro c-50-a laptop. Now, is there any good free accessible tool to repair corrupted sql databases. Have a whole bunch of databases, mdf format, scripts, .sql files and .back bacup files. Now, when I try to create a new database, and put in my name, then click add, then ok. Gives me an error message, empty database. So try two or three times again, same issue. Have tried using the built in sql management studio tools I googled, but did not help. Cannot attach my databases, cannot restore the databases, and cannot import the .back scripts. So, is there a tool, and any one else run into this issue. Thanks.

I get that message from time to time too. I think sometimes this is the site experiencing a technical hick-up, and at others it seems to be a crash on my Apex. That’is sometimes I can exit, re-enter the FB page URL and at least resume with other things (but not what I was viewing), and other times I must reset my unit and login all over again. It baffles me too, but I’ve come to accept as part of viewing FB with my BN Apex. Shalom,

I am not having the issue with NVDA and Word 2010. It's worth trying with NVDA and Word 2016 just to see if it's present with another screen reader.

Hi Louise,
I had this same problem a couple of days ago. Go to the bottom of your page and click on “report a problem”. Follow the instructions and type in the edit box what the issue is and then click on submit. I did this two different times and within a day or so the problem was fixed. Hope this helps.
Good luck, Laura

The JAWS ducking problem is a Skype setting I'm sure.
Unfortunately, I don't think JAWS knows about the new Skype version 8, aka Skype UWP,but if you get Doug Lee's scripts for Skype UWP from http://www.dlee.org/skype/uwp, there's probably a JAWS help screen in there.

Hi, Nino. Try one of the following to keep Windows from reducing volume during Skype calls.
Windows 10 Automatically Reduces System Volume for Games & PC Calls
While you are using your PC to place or receive calls or while you are playing games which use PC calls feature, Windows automatically reduces the system volume without even asking you.
Actually its a new feature which was introduced in Windows 7 which can be disabled using the following simple steps:
1. Open "Sound" applet from Control Panel. Or right-click on Speaker icon present in system tray and select "Playback devices" or "Recording devices" or "Sounds" option.
2. Now go to "Communications" tab and check the option "Do nothing" and Apply it.
3. That's it. Now Windows will no longer reduce the system volume.
Second option:
Press JAWS key plus SPACE BAR, then the letter D as in dog. If JAWS says Ducking other audio, this was not the problem. Repeat the steps,
Press JAWS key plus SPACE BAR, then the letter D as in dog.
JAWS should say, Do not duck other audio.
This is where the setting should stay in order that JAWS does not reduce system volume.

Does anybody knowwhat might causing that.
I have another question about Jaws.
When you press the Jaws key and the spacebar is there any to bring up help so you can find out some commands?
Thank you have a good day.

Yes. VFO knows about this problem. It is a problem with the "fsWow64Proxy" file not being removed during the repair process. I had the same problem, and one of the VFO techs needed to use a microsoft removal tool to correct the problem. Maybe you should call them after the holiday. They will tandem in with you and perform the file removal while you perform the JAWS repair.
