With this program, you use your alt and application buttons to open menus. The Jaws cursor is also used a lot. I use that program as well as Sam Broadcast, but an earlier version.

There really isn’t anything to keep up with manually, Windows Defender just runs in the background and unless I get any sort of specific thread warning which hasn’t happened in more years than I can remember I never even go in there and it updates itself just fine automatically.

MS Security Esentials or Windows Defender that comes with Windows 10 works just fine with JAWS. While the scan is running, you will need to use the JAWS curser to read the status of the scan. Just make sure to keep up with the definitions updates.

Re: ExCell will not read current cell
Marty Hutchings
I am
using older versions of Excel and JAWS and have ocasionally hit this situation
and I found that I cannot edit a cell if it is not on the screen. With
large spread sheets with lots of rows, JAWS reads rows that are not on the
screen and you will not be able to edit them if they are not visible. Try
routing the JAWS curser to the PC curser when the PC curser is in the cell that
you are trying to edit. If you can read the cell contents with the JAWS
curser, then Route the PC curser to the JAWS curser when it is in the cell to be
edited by hitting Insert and pressing the numpad +. You should then be
able to edit the cell contents by pressing F2 to enter edit mode.

Update On Distorted Jaws Speech Problem
Tom Behler
Hello, again, everyone.
After several tries and about an hour on the phone with Microsoft Accessibility, we finally got a new realtech driver installed that pretty much solved my Jaws speech distortion problem again.
Things are not perfect, and still a bit quirky when it comes to plugging in my headphones, but at least I’m basically back in business again.
I want to thank everyone on the list for tolerating my various e-mails on the topic.
If anyone has some thoughts on what we might be able to do to effectively highlight what clearly seems to be a problem relating to Microsoft sound card driver updates, please let us know. I’m told that this is a known Windows 10 issue.
