It only happens to me when I misspell something

This is a really odd one.  I just tried a bunch of copy and paste in a new document in word for office 365, and I had no issues.  I looked in file/account/about and this is the version I have:

Microsoft® Word for Office 365 MSO (16.0.11029.20104)

You might check what version you have and if it is a lower than this see if you can get it updated.

To add to this, if you have performance issues with your solid state drive, make sure you turn the defrag off.

Hi, I was about to say something that someone else already stated but maybe please don't forget to perform the basic things that help to keep your computer operating the best it can. disk cleanup, and disk defragmenter, also don't forget to if you have windows defender to perform a complete scan of your system to make sure that you don't have any viruses. some times, you even might want to make sure that you delete you search history as well.

My computer is getting old and I have experienced a  problem.

Every time I turn my computer on from sleeping mode My speaker starting to act up. 

When Jaws speak's the speaker just crack and suddently it speaks again and the speaker make Jaws sounds like robot. 

I  don't know if you seasoned user experienced this problem before?

What should I do?

Do I need to send the machine back to the shop and get it fixed?

All answers are greatly appreciate it.

Not quite. You should not use a defrag utility, but there is absolutely no problem using a chkdsk program on an ssd, in fact it is recommended to fix file system issues.

Multiple displays is a fairly unusual use case.  You should probably call fs, and I'll bet they tell you that what you are trying to do is not supported.

I read a set of steps to turn on notifications via the settings/system method, but when I get to system I cannot get to the left panel to reach the notifications.

Anyone know how I can turn on notifications in Windows 10 so my Outlook email will be audible when a new one comes in?

Subject: Turning on notifications in Windows 10 settings

 

I read a set of steps to turn on notifications via the settings/system method, but when I get to system I cannot get to the left panel to reach the notifications.

Anyone know how I can turn on notifications in Windows 10 so my Outlook email will be audible when a new one comes in?

I do already have all of the option settings correct in outlook.

I don't have JAWS handy, but when NVDA is running these navigation commands for next and previous read and unread messages work just fine.  No pass-through key needed.

Repair display driver not working

So I got the error message "Freedom Scientific accessibility display driver is not properly installed" and followed the repair instructions which completed okay. Rebooted, launched JAWS 2019 and got the same message. Uninstalled and reinstalled JAWS using new install download, same result.

This appears to have started after I set up my Win 10 laptop to use two external displays. Desktop is extended to both.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Hi Mike,

This checkbox is off by default on my system.

Also, it is randomly.

Somebody else who has this issue?

It sounds like Audio Ducking might be turned on.  See if the notes below will help:

Try the following:
1. Open the Settings Center with the keystroke, Insert / Jaws key + 6, on the number row, and press, Control, Shift + D, to open the Settings Center default
all applications.
2. Down arrow to, User, and right arrow to open.
3. Down arrow to, Lower audio volume of programs when Jaws speaks, and press the spacebar to uncheck this box.
4. Tab to, Okay, and press enter to save and close.
This feature can also be tobbled on & off by using a Layered Keystroke.  Press, Insert / Jaws Key + Spacebar, lut up and press the letter, D, to toggle
Audio Ducking on / off.

It is in settings center for me (running win10) but is called "Lower
the volume of other programs while jaws is speaking" and is in the
"User" group. Note that you have to switch to the default profile, it
cannot be set on a per-program basis (but the setting is still
displayed, just can't be changed in the per-program profiles).

Someone asked me the other day how to silence certain keys such as TAB and ENTER. I mistakenly told them to delete the items from KM. I think I got to them in time to tell them that this was the wrong thing to do.
So, is changing it in one of the verbosity settings the right thing to do?

I moved from Window Eyes to JAWS about a year ago, at the same time I upgraded to Windows 10.  The JAWS cursor is somewhat like the Window Eyes cursor, but I am definitely not finding it as useful and terribly miss what I could do with the WE cursor that this one does not.  I heard that some of the limitations of the JAWS cursor are tied to the way apps and interfaces are designed in Windows 10, so you may find more success with it in Win 7, but the mousepad navigation of the WE cursor is not the same for the JAWS cursor.  To complicate things, JAWS also offers the Touch Cursor, which is supposed to work better with some of these newly designed interfaces.  I’m definitely still trying to wrap my head around these both.  The PC cursor in JAWS is just like the primary one in Window Eyes, whatever it was called. 

 

As for your WLM attachments question, I don’t use it, but since it’s a Microsfot project I wonder if this trick would work.  For Outlook, I like to open the File Explore window and copy whatever file I want to attach to an email.  Then, I go to the body of the email message I am composing and hit Control V to paste it an dit adds it.  Maybe this will work in WLM, too.

I am new to the list and new to Jaws 2019 which I recently installed on my Windows 7 computer because my previous DELL XP (which I just loved) crashed!!!  BTW I used the DELL computer for 14 years with no problems, so I got my money’s worth out of it.  I also should add that I am a former Wineyes user.  I am having some difficulty transitioning to Jaws.  OK here’s my questions:

 

1.  I am now using Windows live mail.  I cannot figure out how you attach a file.  Can anyone help?

 

2.  What does the ‘Smart Screen’ item in the start up menu do and should it be on or off?

 

3.  What is the difference between the Jaws RC cursor and the PC cursor?

 

5.  Using Windoweyes there was a command you could use to determine how many lines were in a document...so you could press the key combo and Window eyes would say “line 86 of 258” so you knew how far along you were in a document....Is there such a command with JAWS....and if not, why not!!! (grin)

 

OK...that’s it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.....and a final note I hope my windows 7 computer will last another ten years because I do not want to go to Windows 10 or above....and I am aware updates will stop Jan., 2020!!!  Thanks!
