Hi all,
Is there a screen curtain in Windows? If not anyway I can prevent
people spoofing in when I type in some personal content?
Thanks

Hi All,

I am not entirely sure if this is a JAWS issue, but in the last couple of days, I can’t seem to navigate to attachments in Outlook. I know they are there because JAWS tells me there are attachments when I am scrolling through my messages. However, when I back space or use insert A to get to the attachments, JAWS tells me there are no attachments.

I am using JAWS 2021, the latest version I believe, and the most current version of Outlook.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What you are experiencing is, the default pst or outlook catalogue file is set to another. if you know where your calendar is stored in which file, you can set that as default. After you do that, everytime you open calendar ctrl - 2, it will be showing that from that pst file.

go to the control panel of your windows, then find mail (microsoft outlook)
then tab to data file and hit space on it.
then you will be in a list of pst files. Do you have multiple on it?
if you have, make sure the one which you want is set as default calendar is selected for that pst file.

if you have multiple outlook profiles, then, it's another whole layer of different issues.

Hello, I’m using the most recent versions of windows10, Outlook2016 and Jaws2021. As some of you know I had been dealing with Outlook problems going from my old laptop to the new one. I have 5 email addresses. When I exported from Outlook on the old laptop it creates what is called outlook data file. I then imported this file to Outlook on my new laptop. Now when I’m in the default email address and go to the calendar using control 2, I’m put into a calendar under a different email address. Now the calendar under this email didn’t have anything in it. When I move to the outlook data file, (I can move to it by bringing up the list of folders), press control 2, The calendar that shows up will have all appointments that were on the calendar for the default email address. I talked with Microsoft Accessibility and was told I will always have to go to the outlook data file calendar and there is no calendar under my default email address. Has any heard of this happening? Is this the way to move Outlook data from one laptop to another? Any thoughts of how I can move the calendar from the outlook data file to the default email address? Can I even create a calendar under the default email address? This really seems odd. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

I believe they are temporary.

If you want to customise verbosity permanently, then you are best doing it in Settings.

Steve,

Good to know, but that leaves the question as to whether the changes would be temporary or not, which was one of the things I was focusing on from the original question.

It's still really handy to know there's a more direct way to get to verbosity settings, but I suspect any changes made would remain in effect even if you were to exit from JAWS and start it up again.  The other increase/decrease temporarily options vanish, and you go back to whatever you had set as your defaults, when you exit and restart JAWS.

If JAWS does not think, as it were, it is not looking at a web page or PDF the XML representation is not buffered.

Thus, the suggestions to Alt+Tab away and return or Insert+Z.

What version of JAWS?

You should always run the latest version of Jaws, right now that is still Jaws 2021 unless you install the public beta version of Jaws 2022 which is available to everybody at this point.

With Windows 11 and especially going forward Jaws 2022 is recommended. Once Jaws 2022 is officially released later this month or in early November you would have to either have a subscription to run it or have a remaining SMA to authorize it.

Hi, Justin. It's in one of two places. First it's in the JAWS Startup Wizard, under Help.

Secondly, it is in Quick Settings (JAWS key plus V). When the search box opens, after you press JAWS key plus V, enter the word smart, and Smart Reading will come up in the search. If it is checked, try unchecking it, and see if that makes a difference in how you can navigate with the arrow keys. Make sure to TAB to the OK button to save the changes.
