No, that wasn't me, but for the record, the person (who shall remain nameless) wasn't disparaging your experience. Just stating his own.

I already did by detailing the tests I did with Narrator and their results. And regardless of what I might think, I said nothing about the rep being wrong, I figure they should be intelligent enough to figure that out on their own.

I don't know if it was you or somebody else, but they mentioned having a cheap keyboard and had never seen what I was describing. Just because they've never had a particular problem themselves, why do people insist on not believing that someone else might actually be experiencing it?
Anyway, I do have another keyboard from a different manufacturer. I don't use it regularly, its just a spare. Anyway I hooked it up to see if the problem is specific to the keyboard I am using and the problem occurred with that keyboard too.

Well, that didn't take long. While in Narrator Edge did not respond at all to either alt+up arrow or alt+down arrow. Even more, when I tried those keys and got nothing from Edge, I tried them again, this time making it a point not to release the alt key at the same time as the arrow key and Edge again did not respond to it like it did with JAWS running.

Sounds to me like whomever I got for a support rep at Vispero didn't know what they were talking about, or they were just trying to dismiss a legitimate case.

Hi everyone!

For those that celebrate it, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving
holiday.

I contacted Vispero about a problem I was experiencing with JAWS and
Edge and they told me that the alt+up arrow and down arrow to expand
and collapse combo boxes where native to the browser and not JAWS
key strokes I had always thought they were.

The problem that I was experiencing was that if I am not careful to
release the alt key at the same time I release the arrow key, Edge
sees it as a separate key stroke and jumps me to the settings and
more button, requiring that I F6 back to the web page I am working
on. Its very frustrating and annoying. I could see it doing that if
I pressed and released the alt key without any other keys, but if
you press an alt key along with another key, it should not be
treated as a separate key stroke just because I didn't release it soon enough.

I'm not using edge, and actually don't know what make of keyboard I had as it was just one I took from an old workplace. It'sa pretty standard and cheap office keyboard. I've never noticed this behaviour in any other browser.

Don't know where "suspected spam" comes from but it crops up often but seemingly randomly on list messages. I just delete the flag when I see it and remember, upon replying. Unfortunately I often do forget.

Yeah, that would be interesting to hear if anyone else sees this behavior. I am using a wired Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 without the inaccessible Microsoft Intelitype Pro drivers, just the standard generic keyboard drivers. The behavior has been occurring for quite a while now, so long in fact that I can't recall if it was there from day one or showed up later in the game.

Also: This email came to me with "**** [SUSPECTED SPAM] ****" in the subject. How do I figure out where it is coming from? Because if it is my system, I will need to figure out how to prevent it from being added in the future.

I’m running Office 19, I think. I know Windows 10, latest updated, and latest Jaws. I’ve noticed a recent change. If I type in an e-mail address into a message and it is a new one typed in by me, not from a link in a webpage, and it is not one I’ve sent or received messages from before, It pops up a dialog box and nothing I do will let me get past it to send the message. It has me create a new contact which doesn’t always work. How can I turn this off?

Justin,

Since you have AIRA, try asking the rep to tell you what is visually happening and where the clickable aspect is. You might find a trick that is repeatable. For example, may they will tell you that there is a small graphic just to the left of where the Listen Now text is or that when you left mouse click it, a button appears.  I like to ask AIRA to describe the page for me so I can see if I can come up with a workaround for the future.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I do not use this and have had no experience with Read Iris. Sorry I can’t be of help. I’d be glad to do some experimentation assuming this is a free software.

Kindly,

Curtis Chong
