It's been a while, but I believe I got my Zoom client from https://www.zoom.us
I just did another test meeting, and it was automatically recorded.
Of course, a work-around is to toggle Alt R

I don't think that's the problem. I don't see anywhere to turn recording on and off. I'm using the desktop zoom client. Did you get your zoom app from the Microsoft store?

78.02 which is now the latest version, also crashes, I mostly use the new Chromium based Edge for the most part.
