No Windows has ever been as stable as Windows 10, not Windows 7 and certainly not Windows XP. It always seems that after a long time old stuff seems like it was better than it really was.

Wasn't that the first built off of windows NT?
I think NT went to version 4.0 or maybe 4.something.

Re: different dos screen readers back in 1989
Good morning everyone,
I dont know personally if jaws existed back in 1989, but I know for absolute 100% certainty that a really, really good screen reader for dos existed back in the Spring of 1989

Hi,
I think ESpeak is great, once you get used to it. It is more responsive than Eloquence, but of course, it is horses for courses.

Yes, we use PayL8r, but it is not interest free unfortunately.
Divide By was too expensive for me to take on.

Yep, JAWS for Windows 3.1 was out, I used it.
I also used Windows Bridge and Window-Eyes. For me, Window-Eyes was always
the best screen reader, but Freedom killed it off.

Billy,
This year Sight and Sound ran the promotion in August. A new JAWS Home was £150 and £95 for an SMA which gives you two upgrades. The first would come out at the end of October.
