Unless Switch went free, I believe it’s still apaid program. I agree it’s great, but they did ask for suggestions that are “free.”

You want to select the lines you want aligned to the left first, and then do control L
and then you can do the same with the right and control R.
Or you can do the entire document one way

If I understand what you are trying to do correctly then one way to do this is to create a 2 column table in Word stretching across the whole width of the page, assuming that this is the word

And why not just try it, it's already there for you in Edge and you just have to press F9 to reformat the page, as Leonard said, it works extremely well.
