I think you may have hit on it, Gary. Possibly an HP laptop, which are known to assign some function keys to multimedia functions, and which need to be remapped before they will work like normal

Lovette, As to your first question about access to the System Tray with Caps Lock F11, you need to be sure that your keyboard layout is set to Laptop. You also need to be sure you are still holding
