No, it is not a beta. It is a way to reserve the upgrade - on July 29th, the
setup files for Windows 10 will be downloaded automatically.
I hope we won't run into a situation like three years

If "Get Windows10" is in your System Tray, it is probably talking about Windows10 Beta. I would not recommend installing a Beta on your machine unless you are a developer, or unless your machine is

I don't even bother trying to view PDF in the browser, even when I
could see (prior to 2007 or so) it simply created so many problems
that I just used acrobat reader instead.
